IN pursuance of "The Highways Act, 1874," I do hereby bring the said Act into operation within the:

TAUHOA HIGHWAY DISTRICT,

and I do hereby appoint the First Meeting of Ratepayers to take place at the residence of Mr. Arthur Eyre, on Monday, 7th February, at 11 o’clock, forenoon; and Mr. John Wilson to be Chairman of such meeting.

THE following Rules and Regulations have been made for and in respect of the Public Ferry at Cambridge, in lieu of those published in the Auckland Provincial Government Gazette, No. 60, dated the 1st September, 1869.

Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath,
Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

UNDER and in pursuance of "The Registration of Brands Act, 1871," I do hereby constitute and appoint the MONGONUI HIGHWAY DISTRICT (as the same is more particularly described in the Provincial Government Gazette, No. 34, dated 26th September, 1872, page 288,) to be a District for the purposes of the said Act.

Given under my hand at Auckland, this 27th day of January, 1876.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

The following Charges or Fees and no more shall be taken from persons crossing the Ferry:

Saddle horse, or horse led or driven 0 6
Mule or head of neat cattle 0 2
Dray, cart, or other two-wheeled vehicle 0 6
Four-wheeled vehicle 1 0
Load of hay or straw 0 3
Pig, sheep, or goat 0
Single bag or package of merchandise 0 1
Ton of firewood or merchandise 0 3
  1. The punt shall run daily (weather permitting) between the hours of six a.m. and seven p.m. at the foregoing rates, and at other times, if required, on payment of double fares.

  2. Children, under fourteen years of age, going to or returning from school, militiamen, or members of the armed constabulary, and all persons conveying Her Majesty’s mails, shall be exempt from payment of any fare.
