THE names of the undermentioned persons appointed Collectors of Rates for the Highway Districts set opposite their respective names have been reported to this Office, namely :-

IT is hereby notified that the Board of Education, under “The Education Act, 1872,” have constituted the districts hereinafter described, to be Educational Districts, under the said Act, and have appointed the times and places of meeting for the election of District School Committees, for the said Educational Districts, as hereunder set forth.

WELLSFORD EDUCATIONAL DISTRICT.

Bounded towards the north by Te Hana river, and by the southern boundary of lot 93, of the parish of Oruawharo; towards the east by part of the eastern boundary of the Oruawharo block, from the south-eastern angle of last-named lot to the south-eastern angle of lot 133 of the parish aforesaid; towards the west by the road forming the western boundaries of lots 133, 132, 131, and 130, all of the parish aforesaid; and towards the north-west part of the western boundary of the Oruawharo block aforesaid from last-named lot to the mouth of Te Hana river.

Meeting to elect a Committee at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, 16th November, at the School-house.

WAITOA EDUCATIONAL DISTRICT.

Comprising all those lands included within the boundaries of the Waitoa Highway District.

Meeting to elect a School Committee at Mr. S. Ticklepenny’s house on Tuesday, 16th November, at 3 p.m.

WAIROA NORTH EDUCATIONAL DISTRICT.

Comprising all those lands included within the boundaries of the parishes of Okahu, Arapohue, Whakahara, and Toka-Toka.

Meeting to elect Committee at Clark’s Barn, Whakahara, on Saturday, 20th November, at noon.

ARATAPU EDUCATIONAL DISTRICT.

Bounded towards the north-west by the north-western boundary of the parish of Kopuru, and by

After Parliament moved to Wellington in 1865, the Auckland Provincial Council sat in General Assembly House (depicted).

It was nicknamed the 'Shedifice' as it was large and drafty, with a leaking roof. First premier Henry Sewell described it as 'a great wooden barnshaped affair, which might serve for a Hospital, a Jail, or a Barrack'.
