firmed and sealed with the Common Seal of the Council of the said City, the 17th day of November, 1873.
In pursuance of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1867, Part 13, Section 186, the Council of the City of Auckland ordain as follows, that is to say:—

From and after the date of this By-law coming into operation, no person shall carry on the business of a Chimney-sweep within the limits of the City of Auckland unless he shall in each year have registered his name and place of abode in the Town Clerk’s Office, and every such person who neglects so to register shall forfeit a sum not exceeding Forty Shillings.

The charge for sweeping chimneys in the City shall be as follows:—
s. d. Chimney of a one storied house 1 6 In two storied houses Chimney on ground floor 2 0 Chimney on first floor 1 6 In three storied houses Chimney on ground floor 2 6 Chimney on first floor 2 0 Chimney on second floor 1 6 In no case shall the charge for sweeping chimney of a dwelling house exceed 2 6 -
Every registered chimney-sweep, who shall be required by any person to do, within the City, any work as such chimney-sweep, and who, without reasonable excuse, shall refuse or neglect to do such work, or shall demand and take for such work any greater sum than that hereby appointed, or shall use any abusive or insulting language to any person wishing to employ or having employed such chimney-sweep, shall, on conviction, forfeit and pay a sum not exceeding Five Pounds.
Passed by the said Council this seventh day of November, Anno Domini One thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
BY THE AUCKLAND HARBOUR BOARD FOR THE PORT OF AUCKLAND.
In pursuance of the powers and authority vested in the Auckland Harbour Board, the following Rates, Dues, and Charges for the use of the Wharves, Piers, and Jetties, situate on the North Shore of the Harbour of Auckland, are hereby imposed and levied in the place of the Rates, Dues, and Charges now levied; that is to say:
- For Steam Ferry Boats, at per annum, payable quarterly in advance ... £8 0 0
- For Pulling or Sailing Boats, at per annum, payable quarterly in advance ... £2 0 0
- For each time of passing on to, or off, any Wharf, Pier, or Jetty, there shall be paid—
On every head of large cattle ... 0 0 6
On every head of small cattle ... 0 0 3
On goods and merchandise, per package 0 1
Personal luggage, or such goods as may be carried by hand by passengers, to be free.
Given at Auckland under the Common Seal of the Auckland Harbour Board, the twenty-fifth day of November, One thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.
