PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

UNDER and in pursuance of the powers vested in the Superintendent by the fourth section of “The Highways Act, 1871,” I do hereby notify that, from and after the date of publication hereof, all those several portions of the Province of Auckland hereunder respectively described shall be Highway Districts under the said Act, and shall be known by the distinctive names thereunto respectively prefixed; that is to say:

The Waipu North Highway District.

Bounded towards the North by the Southern boundaries of the Mangapai and Ruakaka blocks from the point of intersection of the South-Western

boundary of the former block by the Great North Road to Uretiti on the East Coast; towards the sea from Uretiti aforesaid to the North Head of the Waipa entrance; towards the South by the Waipu river and the Northern branch thereof called Pohuenui to the North-Western boundary of allotment No. 1 of the Parish of Waipu, thence by the North-Western and South-Western boundaries of said allotment No. 1 to the Ahuroa or Western branch of the Waipu river, thence by said Western branch river to the Southern boundary of allotment No. 196 of the Parish of Waipu aforesaid, thence by the Southern boundary of said allotment No. 196 to its South-Western angle, and by a right line thence bearing 263 degrees Westerly to the Eastern boundary of the Mareretu block, and towards the West by parts of the Eastern boundaries of the Mareretu and Ruarangi blocks to the intersection of the Eastern boundary of the last-named block by the Great North Road and continuing along the centre of the Great North Road aforesaid to the place of commencement.

The Waipu Middle Highway District.

Commencing at the North-Eastern boundary of the Mareretu Highway District. Bounded towards the North by the Southern boundary of the Waipu North Highway District; towards the North-East by the Northern branch of the Waipu river or the Pohuenui river from the North-Eastern angle of allotment No. 1 of the Parish of Waipu to the confluence of the said river with the Waipu river; towards the South-East by the Waipu river aforesaid, and by the Waihoihoi or South branch river to the centre of the road which forms the North-Eastern boundary of allotment No. 85 of the Parish of Waipu aforesaid; thence Southerly by the centre of said road and by the centre of the road which forms the Northern boundary of allotment No. 116 and the Northern and Eastern boundaries of allotment No. 79 both of the Parish aforesaid to the South-Eastern angle of the last-named lot, thence by a right line in a Southerly direction to the Piroa stream at the North-Eastern angle of allotment No. 145 of the Parish of Wairau; and towards the South-West and West by part of the Northern boundary of the Parish of Wairau, the Great North Road and part of the Eastern boundary of the Mareretu block to the place of commencement.

The Waipu South Highway District.

Bounded towards the North-East by the Waipu river from its confluence with the Pohuenui or Northern branch river to the South Head of the Waipu entrance, thence by high-water mark of the sea to the North-Eastern angle of allotment No. 91 of the Parish of Waipu at Bream Tail; towards the South by the Eastern boundary of said allotment No. 91 to its South-Eastern angle, thence South-Westerly in a straight line to the point of intersection on the Kapawhiti Range by the road from Mangawai to McKenzie’s cove, thence Westerly by Kapawhiti Range aforesaid and the Southern boundary of Mr. Busby’s claim, (as cut by D. C. Wilson, surveyor) to its intersection by a straight line bearing due North from the Northern angle of the Marunui block, thence by the said line and by the North-Western and part of the South-Western boundaries of the Marunui block aforesaid to the North-Eastern boundary of the Parish of Kaiwaka, and by said boundary continued to the North-Eastern angle of allotment No. 145 of the Parish of Wairau; and towards the North-West by the South-Eastern boundary of the Waipu North Highway District.
