PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 30th April, 1873.

HEREBY notify that the Chairman of the after-named District Board, under "The Highways Act, 1871," has reported in writing to the Superintendent the names of the under-mentioned persons appointed Officers and Members of that Board, to supply vacancies:—

Town of Onehunga.—William Eastwood, to be Chairman, vice John Jermyn Symonds, resigned; and James McIntyre, James Robb, and James Foy, to be Members, vice John Jermyn Symonds, John Lundon, and Ebenezer Gibbons, resigned.

William Henry Clarke.—No. 1 District—Comprising the Highway Districts of Ahipara, Mongonui, and Mongonui Township, together with lands between Ahipara and Cape Reinga.
William Lane.—No. 2. District—Comprising the Highway Districts of Whakapaku, Whangaroa North, and Kaeo.
Matthew Mawer.—No. 3 District—Comprising the Northern part of the Bay of Islands District.
No. 4 District—Comprising the Southern part of the Bay of Islands District, including Bedford County.
No. 5. District—Comprising the District of Hokianga.
Elon Bond.—No. 14 District—Including the Wado, Orewa, Waiwera, Puhoi, and Southern parts of Ahuroa and Mahurangi.
Thomas Spaman.—No. 17 District—North Shore District.
No. 18 District—Comprising the Highway Districts of Waipareira, Waikomiti, Titirangi, Manukau and Waitakerei South, East, and West.
Charles Thomas Horan.—No. 19 District—Comprising the Highway Districts of Whau and Mount Albert.

NOTICE is hereby given that I have appointed the under-named persons to collect the Household and Capitation Rates payable for the year 1873, within the Districts set opposite their respective Names, and to give printed Receipts for the same on my behalf.

VUW Te Waharoa — Auckland Provincial Gazette 1873, No 20

After Parliament moved to Wellington in 1865, the Auckland Provincial Council sat in General Assembly House (depicted).

It was nicknamed the 'Shedifice' as it was large and drafty, with a leaking roof. First premier Henry Sewell described it as 'a great wooden barnshaped affair, which might serve for a Hospital, a Jail, or a Barrack'.
