PROCLAMATION.

By THOMAS BANNATYNE GILLIES, Esquire,
Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

BY virtue of the powers to me delegated by the Governor in Council, under his hand and the Public Seal of the Colony, under "The Gold Mining Districts Act, 1871," I do hereby exempt from occupation for mining purposes, or for machine sites, or for business or for residence, all those portions of land situate within the boundaries of the Hauraki Gold Mining District under the said Act, which are particularly described in the Schedule hereunder. Provided always that the above exemption shall not extend to any portion of the said lands now lawfully occupied for mining purposes.

Given under my hand and seal at Auckland, within the said Province, this sixteenth day of March, One thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.

SCHEDULE.

All that portion of land commencing at Trigonometrical Station G on the Gentle Annie Range, from thence along the Eastern, Northern, and Western watershed of the Waikiakia Creek to the North-west angle of the Mission land; from thence by the Northern boundary line of the Mission land to the Waikiakia Creek; from thence by the Waikiakia Creek, West side, to a point due West from Trig. G; from thence by a line due East to the commencing point—all bearings being magnetic. (Gathering ground for the Water Supply.)

All that piece of ground at Coromandel which lies within 400 yards, at right angles on both sides of a straight line commencing at the junction of the Main Kapanga Creek with the Whakaroa Stream, and running in a North-easterly direction between the North-western angle of the Tokatea Gold Mining Company’s (registered) lease, and the South-western angle of the Masonic lease to the nearest branch of the Harataunga river. (Coromandel Tunnel Company’s ground.)

All that piece of ground commencing at the South-east peg of the Hero No. 2 lease survey; thence bearing 32° 45’ 420 links; thence 302° 45’ 391 links; thence 212° 45’ 425 links; thence 122° 45’ 137 links; thence 302° 45’ 63 links; thence along the boundary of the inside of Beach Road, 260 links or thereabouts, all bearings being magnetic. All that piece of ground commencing at a point bearing North 16° 45’ West from the North corner of Walters’ Slaughter-yard, distance 15 chains 55 links to point marked A on Record Plan; thence 304° 0’ 141 links; thence 342° 0’ 214 links; thence 340° 0’ 227 links; thence 7° 15’ 237 links; thence 39° 30’ 324 links; thence 93° 80’ 304 links; thence 173° 0’ 348 links; thence 187° 20’ 229 links; thence 210° 30’ 303 links; thence 223° 30’ 186 links to the commencing point at A on Record Plan, the whole containing 4 acres and 18 perches, all bearings being magnetic. All that piece of ground commencing at a point bearing South 59° 4’ East 6 chains and 51 links from Trig. Pole D; thence North 45° 55’ East 1 chain; thence South 44° 5’ East 1 chain; thence South 45° 55’ West 1 chain; thence North 44° 5’ West 1 chain to the place of beginning, and containing by admeasurement 16 perches more or less. (Schoolhouse Reserve, Punga Flat.)
