PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

By Thomas Bannatyne Gillies, Esquire,
Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

UNDER and in pursuance of the powers in me vested by the fourth section of "The Highways Act, 1871," I do hereby alter and amend the several boundaries of the Arai, Mangawai, and Waipu Highway Districts as hereunder set forth.

Given under my hand at Auckland, this fourth day of July, One thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.

The Arai Highway District.

Amended Boundaries.

Bounded towards the north-east by high water-mark of the sea from the south head of the Mangawhai river to the south-eastern boundary of the parish of Arai; towards the south-east by the south-eastern boundary of the parish of Arai aforesaid to the eastern boundary of the parish of Oruawhero; towards the west by the eastern boundary of the parish of Oruawhero aforesaid, to its junction with the southern boundary of the parish of Mangawai; towards the south by the southern boundary of the parish of Mangawai aforesaid, to the south-western angle of allotment number 93 of the said parish; and again towards the west by the western boundary of allotment number 93 aforesaid, and by the road which forms its northern boundary to the production in a straight line of the western boundary of allotment number 92 of the said parish, thence crossing the road aforesaid, and by the western boundary of allotment number 92 aforesaid, the western and part of the northern boundary of allotment number 90 to a creek and by said creek (forming the western boundaries of allotments numbers 89, 88, 87, and 86, all of the parish of Mangawai aforesaid), to the Mangawhai River, and thence by the south-eastern bank of said river to the place of commencement.

The Mangawai Highway District.

Amended Boundaries.

Bounded towards the north-east by high water-mark of the sea from Bream Tail, at the north-eastern angle of allotment number 91 of the parish of Waipu, to the north head of the Mangawai river; towards the east by the south-eastern bank of the Mangawai river aforesaid, to the creek at the western side of the road which forms the south-western boundary of allotment number 84 of the parish of Mangawai, thence by said creek to the south-western angle of allotment number 89 of the parish of Mangawai aforesaid, thence westerly by part of the northern boundary of allotment number 90 to its north-western angle, thence by the western boundary of allotment number 90 last named, and the western boundary of allotment number 92 to the road which forms its southern boundary, thence crossing said road in a straight line to the northern boundary of allotment number 93, thence westerly by part of the said northern road boundary, and by the western boundary of the same lot to the northern boundary of the parish of Oruawhero; towards the south by part of the northern parish boundary last described to the Hakaru river; towards the west by the middle of the Hakaru river aforesaid to the south-western boundary of allotment number 122, of the parish of Mangawai aforesaid; thence by the south-western boundary and by part of the north-western boundary of allotment number 122 aforesaid to the north-eastern boundary of the Marunui block, thence by said north-eastern boundary of the Marunui block aforesaid to the north-western boundary of the parish of Kaiwaka; and towards the south-west by parts of the north-eastern boundaries of the parishes of Kaiwaka and Wairan to the Great North road, and thence by the Great North road aforesaid to the south-western boundary of the Mangapai block first mentioned—the place of commencement.

The Waipu Highway District.

Amended Boundaries.

Bounded towards the north by the southern boundaries of the Mangapai and Ruakaka blocks, from the point of intersection of the south-western boundary of the former block by the Great North road to Uretiti on the East Coast; towards the north-east by high water-mark of the sea from Uretiti aforesaid to the north-eastern angle of allotment number 91, of the parish of Waipu, at Bream Tail; towards the south by the eastern boundary of said lot number 91 to its south-eastern angle, thence south-westerly in a straight line to the point of intersection on the Kapawhiti range by the road from Mangawai to McKenzie's Cove, thence westerly by Kapawhiti range aforesaid, and the southern boundary of Mr. Busby's claim (as cut by Mr. D. C. Wilson, surveyor), to its intersection by a straight line bearing due north from the northern angle of the Marunui block, thence by said line and by the north-western boundary of the Marunui block aforesaid to the north-eastern boundary of the parish of Kaiwaka; and towards the south-west by parts of the north-eastern boundaries of the parishes of Kaiwaka and Wairan to the Great North road, and thence by the Great North road aforesaid to the south-western boundary of the Mangapai block first mentioned—the place of commencement.
