AUCKLAND PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.

Mining District, under the said Act, which is particularly described in the Schedule hereunder.

Given under my hand and seal, at Auckland, within the said Province, this eleventh day of June, One thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.

SCHEDULE.

All that parcel of land containing by admeasurement five acres, and twenty-three perches, more or less, being called or known by the name of Waipatu-kahu, number four. Bounded towards the north by native land, eight hundred and twenty links; towards the east by native land, four hundred and eighteen links; towards the south by native land, eight hundred and sixty-eight links; and towards the west by native land, eight hundred and forty-two links to the point of commencement.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

Under and in pursuance of the powers vested in the Superintendent by "The Auckland Waste Lands Act, 1867," I hereby notify, for public information, that all those pieces or parcels of land enumerated in the Schedule hereunder will be offered for sale, by Public Auction, at the Court-House, Gisborne, by the Provincial Secretary, on Thursday the eighteenth day of July, 1872, as Town and Suburban Land, at the hour of 12 o’clock noon.

CONDITIONS OF SALE.

The land will be sold in lots by auction to the highest bidder. In case of doubt as to the highest bidder for any lot, or in case the person to whom a lot has been knocked down shall fail to make the deposit hereinafter mentioned, the lot will be at once put up again.
The purchase money of any allotment shall be paid as follows, viz.:
One-fourth at the time of sale by way of deposit, and the remaining three-fourths within one calendar month after the sale. In the event of the second payment not being made within the said period of one calendar month the sale shall be void, and the deposit forfeited.
Any lot may be withdrawn at any time before it is put up.
All lands not disposed of at the sale will be immediately thereafter withdrawn from sale.

VUW Te Waharoa — Auckland Provincial Gazette 1872, No 21

After Parliament moved to Wellington in 1865, the Auckland Provincial Council sat in General Assembly House (depicted).

It was nicknamed the 'Shedifice' as it was large and drafty, with a leaking roof. First premier Henry Sewell described it as 'a great wooden barnshaped affair, which might serve for a Hospital, a Jail, or a Barrack'.
