PROCLAMATION.

By Thomas Bannatyne Gillies, Esquire,
Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

WHEREAS by "The Highway Boards Empowering Act, 1871," it is enacted that the Superintendent of any Province, upon recommendation of the Provincial Council, may from time to time, by Proclamation declare that any or all of the parts of the said Act numbered two, three, four, five, six, and seven shall extend and apply to any Highway District constituted or to be constituted by or under any Provincial Act theretofore or thereafter to be passed, or to the inhabitants, ratepayers, or governing body of any such District as the case may require, and upon such day as shall be fixed in and by any such Proclamation, the part or parts therein specified shall be in force in and as to such Highway District, or with regard to the inhabitants, ratepayers, or governing body of such District, as the case may require.

And whereas the Auckland Provincial Council have, by Resolution dated the eighteenth day of December, 1871, recommended me without delay, by Proclamation, to extend and apply the provisions of parts two, three, four, five, six, and seven of the said Act to all the existing Highway Districts of the Province.

Now therefore I, Thomas Bannatyne Gillies, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, in pursuance and in exercise of the power and authority for that purpose vested in me, and upon the recommendation of the Auckland Provincial Council, do hereby declare that all of the parts of the said Highway Boards Empowering Act, 1871, numbered two, three, four, five, six, and seven, shall extend and apply to the several Highway Districts specified in the Schedule hereunder, and shall be in force in and as to such Highway Districts respectively on and after the date of publication hereof.

Given at Auckland under my hand and the Public Seal of the Province, this tenth day of June, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.

BY virtue of the powers to me delegated by the Governor in Council, under his hand and the Public Seal of the Colony, under "The Gold Mining Districts Act, 1871," I do hereby exempt from occupation for mining purposes, or for machine sites, or for business, or for residence, all that portion of land situate within the boundaries of the Hauraki Gold Fields.
