PROCLAMATION.
BY THOMAS BANNATYNE GILLIES, Esquire,
Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.
UNDER and in pursuance of the powers vested in
the Superintendent by an Act of the Local Leg-
islature of the Province of Auckland, intituled “An
Act to abate the Nuisance caused by Dogs,” (Ses-
sion 1, No. 4, 1854), I do hereby proclaim and declare
that, from and after the publication hereof, the said
Act shall come into operation within the District of
Alexandra Township,
as constituted under “The Highways Act, 1871.”
Given under my hand, and the Public
Seal of the Province of Auckland, this
eighth day of December, One thousand
eight hundred and seventy-one.

HAURAKI GOLDFIELD
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 15th December, 1871.
IN pursuance of the 29th section of “The Gold-
fields Act, 1866,” and of the Regulations made
under that Act for the granting of Leases for Gold
Mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is in-
tended to grant Leases for Gold Mining purposes to
the Applicants specified in the Schedule hereunder,
unless valid objections can be shown against granting
such Leases.
Copies of the applications made, and plans annexed,
may be seen at the Warden’s Office, Grahamstown.

SCHEDULE.
The Apollo Gold Mining Company, Registered,
applied for by Alex. Beveridge; 15 years’ lease
of 15 acres or thereabouts, bounded on the East
by the “Vulcan” and “Cyclopse,” and on all
other sides by unoccupied ground, Upper Tararu;
ground known as the “Apollo” Claim; applica-
tion received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown,
at 10.5 a.m. on the 4th December, 1871. R.B,
986.
Francis Joseph Wardell; 15 years lease of 6 acres
more or less, Quartz claim known as the “North
Star” Claim, and unoccupied ground situated
next the “Crystal Palace” Gold Mining
Company’s ground and close to the “Lord
Nelson” Company’s ground, Te Papa Gully or
Creek, Karaka block; partly held under Miners’
Rights; Application received in Warden’s Office,
Grahamstown at 11 a.m. on the 4th December,
1871. R.B, 989.
John Noble and Alexander Farquhar, both of
Grahamstown; 15 years’ lease of 10 acres;
bounded by “Golden Spur” and “Golden
Cable” grounds, Karaka Block; held under
Leases dated 1st of July and 4th of September
respectively, said Leases to be surrendered for
the purpose of this application.
