Carey; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres, bounded north-easterly by the “Celt” Gold Mining Company’s ground, and on all other sides by unoccupied ground, Upper Tararu; part of ground held under Miners’ Rights; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 10:20 a.m. on the 4th September, 1871—R.B. 953.
ALEXANDER DEWAR, of Grahamstown, Miner; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres, auriferous ground, bounded on the north by the “Hero No. 2” lease, and the “Islay” lease; south and south-west by pegs fixed below high-water mark, Karaka; not held under Miners’ Rights; known as No. 1 Hero Lease; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 1:35 p.m., on the 4th September, 1871—R.B. 954.
The Margaretta Mining and Crushing Company, to be registered, applied for by Alfred William Carew; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres, quartz reef on the Tokatea line, bounded on the west by the “Daylight” claim; unoccupied ground; application received in Warden’s Office, Coromandel, at 12:15 p.m., on the 26th August, 1871.

IT is hereby notified that the application for a Mining Lease set forth in the Schedule hereunder has been withdrawn.

WILLIAM McDONALD AND HUGH R. JONES, applied for by Thomas Hunter; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres of auriferous land, bounded on the East by the “Kuranui Star” claim and “Pride of Kuranui” lease, on the South-east by the “Overland Route” Gold Mining Company embracing the “Diamond” claim, and on the West by vacant ground, Karaka; application (R.B. 911) dated 15th June 1871; withdrawn 1st September 1871.
COROMANDEL GOLDFIELD.
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
IN pursuance of the 29th section of “The Goldfields Act, 1866,” and of the Regulations made under that Act for the granting of Leases for Gold Mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant Leases for Gold Mining purposes to the applicants specified in the Schedule hereunder, unless valid objections can be shown against granting such Leases. Copies of the applications made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office, Coromandel.

The Neptune Gold Mining Company, to be registered; applied for by James Mackay, junior; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres, situated at Kauri Point, Coromandel, adjoining the “Golden Pah” Gold Mining Company’s lease; bounded on south and west by public road, ground not held under Miners’ Rights; application received in Warden’s Office, Coromandel, at 2 p.m., on the 25th August, 1871.
PROCLAMATION.

BY virtue of the powers and authority vested in the Superintendent under the eleventh section of “The Auckland Waste Lands Act, 1867,” I do hereby temporarily reserve for Educational purposes, until the next session of the Auckland Provincial Council, all that piece or parcel of land containing two acres, more or less, and being allotment No. 122 of the parish of Puhoi, in the county of Marsden.
Given under my hand and the Public Seal of the said Province, this thirtieth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-one.

PROCLAMATION.
By JOSEPH MAY, Esquire, Deputy Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.
WHEREAS by an Act of the Local Legislature of the Province of Auckland, intituled “An Act to consolidate and amend the laws relating to Slaughter-houses,” it was amongst other things enacted that it should be lawful for the Superintendent of the said Province, by proclamation in the Provincial Government Gazette from time to time to constitute and define Slaughter-house Districts, and to appoint one or more public Slaughter-houses for each of such Districts. Now THEREFORE, in exercise of the power so vested in the Superintendent in that behalf by the said Act, I, Joseph May, the Deputy Superintendent of the said Province, do hereby proclaim that I do constitute and define the District of TARARU to be a Slaughter-house District within the meaning of the said Act, the limits of which shall comprise all those lands commencing at a point at the junction of the “Boundary Creek” with the Sea high-water mark; thence in a northerly direction 204 links; thence north-westerly to a point beyond Tararu Creek—said point being the most northern point of Block 14, Tararu Native Lands Reserve, 4892 links; thence westerly 810 links; thence northerly 758 links; thence westerly 1176 links to high water mark; from thence by the sea coast, the boundary of the Goldfield, to the commencing point at the junction of Boundary Creek with the sea, all bearings and distances being approximate. And I do further proclaim that I do appoint the premises situate at Tararu, erected by Mr. William Walters, of Auckland, to be a Public Slaughter-house for the said District within the meaning of the said Act.
Given at Auckland under my hand and the Public Seal of the Province, this ninth day of September, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-one.
