HAURAKI GOLDFIELD.
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
By Thomas Bannatyne Gillies, Esquire,
Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.
By virtue and in pursuance of the powers in me vested by section 10 of "The Goldfields Act, 1866," and the delegation held by me, I do hereby exempt from occupation for Mining purposes all that piece of ground within the Hauraki Goldfield, commencing at a point known as the South-east peg of the Hero No. 2 lease survey; thence bearing 32° 45' 420 links; thence 302° 45' 891 links; thence 212° 45' 425 links; thence 122° 45' 137 links; thence 302° 45' 63 links; thence along the boundary of the inside of Beach Road 260 links or thereabouts, all bearings being magnetic. Provided always that the above exemption shall not extend to any portion of the said land now lawfully occupied for Mining purposes.
Given under my hand, at Wellington, this eleventh day of September, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-one.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
In pursuance of the 29th section of "The Goldfields Act, 1866," and of the Regulations made under that Act for the granting of Leases for Gold Mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant Leases for Gold Mining purposes to the applicants specified in the Schedule hereunder, unless valid objections can be shown against granting such Leases.
Copies of the applications made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden's Office, Grahamstown.

The Point Russell Gold Mining Company, Limited;
Applied for by Edward Thomas; 15 years' lease of 12 acres, bounded by the "Dauntless and Sink to Rise," "Golden Age," "Messenger's," and "Red White and Blue" Claims, and including the "Tulip" Claim, Karaka; lease held by "Point Russell" Gold Mining Company Limited, to be surrendered for the purpose of this application; application received in Warden's Office, Grahamstown, at 12:10 p.m., on the 30th August, 1871—R.B. 950.
The Waitemata Gold Mining Company, Registered;
Applied for by Richard Hudson; 15 years' lease of about 6 acres of quartz mining land, situate on the Waiotahi Spur adjoining the "Nonpareil" Claim and the "Moanataiari" Company’s ground, Karaka; known as the "Waitemata" and "Sedan" Claims held under Leaseholders Miners’ Right; lease to "Waitemata" Gold Mining Company, and lease to J. De Hirsch to be surrendered for the purpose of this application; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 12:30 p.m., on the 31st August, 1871—R.B. 951.
The Una Quartz Crushing and Gold Mining Company, Registered;
Applied for by Fred. F. Day; 15 years' lease of 16 acres, situate on the Karaka.
