have been elected by the Provincial Council as Members of the Central Board of Education, in pursuance of the third clause of "The Common Schools Act, 1869."

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Auckland, 3rd February, 1871.
In pursuance of the 23rd Section of "The Goldfields Act, 1866" and of the Regulations made under that Act for the granting of Leases for Gold Mining purposes it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant Leases for Gold Mining purposes to the Applicants specified in the Schedule hereunder unless valid objections can be shown against granting such Leases.
Copies of the Applications made, and Plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office, Grahamstown.

The Kuranui Gold Mining Company, Registered,
Applied for by Charles Tothill; 15 years’ lease of 3¼ acres, bounded by the "Kuranui" Gold Mining Company’s Registered Claim on the West and South, by the "Eureka" on the East, and by the "Pride of Kuranui" on the North; Karaka Block; ground held under Miners’ Rights, and known as the "Teutonic"; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 10 a.m. on the 20th January, 1871, R.B. 815.
