John Jervis and Thomas Jackson, both of Grahamstown, Miners; 15 years’ lease of 8 acres, more or less, bounded on the north-east by the “Una” Company’s ground, and by vacant ground; on the east by the “Big Gibraltar” Claim; on the south by the Hape Creek, Karaka; partly held under Miners’ Rights, formerly known as the “Excelsior,” “Armstrong,” and “Young Gibraltar” Claims; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, 26th June, 1871.—R.B. 918.

The Lord Cardigan Gold Mining Company, to be registered, applied for by Alfred Walker; 15 years’ lease of 6 acres, bounded by the “Crino-line,” “Argyle,” and “Lord Collingwood” Claims, Karaka; held under Miners’ Rights, and known as the “Lord Nelson” Claim; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 1.35 p.m., 28th June, 1871.—R.B. 926.

Thomas Hunter and William J. Bray; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres, auriferous land, bounded on the west by the “Celt,” and on the north-east by the “St. George” lease, including the “North-Western Pacific,” situated at Upper Tararu; known as the “North-Western Pacific” Claim, 7 men’s ground, held under Miners’ Rights; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 2.30 p.m., 28th June, 1871.—R.B. 927.

The Middle Star Gold Mining Company, Registered, applied for by George W. Jones; 15 years’ lease of 6 acres, more or less, auriferous quartz land, situated on the Moanataiari Creek, Thames Goldfield, bounded by the following Claims:—“Comet No. 1,” “Earl of Ulster,” “23rd June,” “Middle Star Extended,” and “Shooting Star” Claims, Moanataiari Creek, Karaka Block; Claim held under the “Middle Star” Gold Mining Company’s Lease, and “Cape of Good Hope” Company’s Lease and assignment, to be surrendered for the purpose of this application; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 12.10 p.m., 23rd June, 1871.—R.B. 919.

Charles Wallnutt, of Shortland, Miner; 15 years’ lease of 18 acres, bounded by “Mary Ellen,” and “Colossus” Claims, Alabama Creek, and “Young Eagle” Claim, Upper Karaka; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 3.50 p.m., 26th June, 1871.—R.B. 920.

Edward King Tyler, of Grahamstown, Solicitor; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres, situated in the Upper Tararu district, and adjoining the land for which James Garvey has lately applied for a lease, Upper Tararu; held under Miners’ Rights; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 11.15 a.m., 27th June, 1871.—R.B. 921.

John Alwent Chapman; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres auriferous quartz; bounded on the north by the “Celt,” other boundaries by unoccupied ground; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 2.49 p.m., 27th June, 1871.—R.B. 929.

William Bishop, Junior; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres; bounded on the north and east by unoccupied ground, on the south by a lease adjoining the “New Year’s Gift,” applied for by Mr. Horsburgh, and on the west by unoccupied ground, Upper Tararu; held under Leasing Regulations; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 3 p.m., 27th June, 1871.—R.B. 923.

The Bird in Hand Gold Mining Company, to be registered; applied for by John D. Wickham; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres; ground adjoining the “Queen of Beauty” Claim, the “Bright Smile,” “City of London,” and “Queen of the May” leases, Karaka, not held under Miners’ Rights; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 3.5 p.m., 27th June, 1871.—R.B. 924.

The Abraham Lincoln Gold Mining Company, Registered, applied for by R. McDonald Scott; 15 years’ lease of about 4 ½ acres, auriferous quartz; bounded by “Golden Point” Claim and unoccupied ground, Upper Karaka; known as the “City of Chicago” and “City of New York” Claim held under Miners’ Rights, and partly unoccupied ground; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, 28th June, 1871.—R.B. 925.

Robert Burra; 15 years’ lease of about 5 acres, more or less, of auriferous quartz land; bounded by the “Evening Star,” “Golden Age,” “United Service,” “True Briton,” “Unicorn,” and “Dayspring” Claims, Waiotahi, Karaka; Claim not held under Miners’ Rights, formerly known as the “Gladstone” Lease; application (R.B. 883) dated 29th May, 1871; withdrawn 26th June, 1871.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Auckland, 8th July, 1871.

IN pursuance of the 29th Section of “The Goldfields Act, 1866,” and of the Regulations made under that Act for the granting of Leases for Gold Mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a Lease for Gold Mining purposes to the Applicants specified in the Schedule hereunder, unless valid objections can be shown against granting such Lease. Copy of the Application made, and Plan annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office, Coromandel.
