JAMES HOSIE, 15 years’ lease of about 10 acres,
situated at Tararu, adjoining the “Lowland Lass”
Lease, known as the “Sedan” Claim; not held
under Miners’ Rights; application received in
Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, 2 p.m. 16th January,
1871, R.B. 813.

The Point Russell Gold Mining Company, Limited,
applied for by Edward Thomas; 15 years’ lease
of about 12 acres, situate at Moanatairi Creek,
adjoining “Sink to Rise,” “Southern Cross,”
“Harp of Erin,” and “Messenger’s” Claims,
Karaka Block, known as the “Carlisle,” “Little
and Good,” “Dawn of Hope,” “Point Russell,”
and “Belmont” Claims; partly held under
Miners’ Rights; application received in Warden’s
Office, Grahamstown, 2:50 p.m. 16th January,
1871, R.B. 814.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 23rd January, 1871.

IT is hereby notified that the Application for a
Mining Lease set forth in the Schedule hereunder
has been withdrawn, and that the land therein men-
tioned, in so far as not occupied under Miners’ Rights,
is now open for occupation.

Plan may be seen at the Engineer’s Office, Gra-
hamstown.

SCHEDULE.

EDWARD CAMERON, 15 years’ lease of 15 acres;
situated on the Ohio Creek, Tararu, about half
a mile south-east of the Falls in Tararu Creek,
known as the “A 1” Claim; application notified
in Gazette No. 1, dated 13th January, 1871, page
I; withdrawn 12th January, 1871, R.B. 806.

NOTICE.

THE House of Representatives having resolved that
there should be an Exhibition in Wellington
during the next Session of the Assembly of all varieties
of Flax fibre prepared in the Colony, Manufacturers
are invited to forward to the Flax Commissioners,
through the Superintendent of their Province, Samples
of the Fibre, Rope sacking, or any other material pre-
pared by them from the New Zealand Flax.

The Samples of Fibre should not be less than 20lbs.
in weight, and 10 or 15 fathoms of each kind of rope
will be sufficient.

It is desirable that a statement of the process and
estimated cost of manufacture should accompany the
Samples.

Samples to be forwarded to the Superintendent’s
Office before 15th June next.

Superintendent of the Province of Auck-
land.

UNDER and in pursuance of the powers in me vested
by the third clause of “The Highways Act,
1867,” I do hereby notify that I have altered and
amended the boundaries of the Mongonui Highway
District, as hereunder set forth.

Given under my hand, at Auckland,
this nineteenth day of January,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
one.

THE MONGONUI HIGHWAY DISTRICT.

Amended Boundaries.

Bounded towards the North by the sea from the
Eastern Head of Rangaunu Harbour to Cape Kara-
kara; towards the North-east by the sea aforesaid
and Doubtless Bay from Cape Karakara beforenamed
to Mongonui Harbour; towards the East by Mongon-
ui Harbour aforesaid and Mongonui River to the
North-western boundary of the Kohumaru Block,
thence by the North-western and Western boundaries
of Kohumaru Block aforesaid to the North-eastern
boundary of Maungataniwha Block No. 3, and by the
said North-eastern boundary to the southernmost limit
of the Block last-named; towards the South-east and
South by the Southern boundaries of Maungataniwha
Blocks Nos. 1, 2, and 3; towards the South-west and
West by the Western boundary of Maungataniwha
Block No. 1, and by a right line thence to the Eastern-
most angle of the Maungatete Block; thence by the
Eastern boundary of said Block to the Tukai River,
and by said Tukai and Maungatete Rivers to the
Rangaunu Harbour, and by said Harbour to the
Eastern head thereof, the place of commencement.

Board of Highway Trustees for the Parnell
District has reported in writing to the Superintendent
the appointment of

as Collector of Highway Rates for the Board.

Highway District.—Mr. W. G. Poole is no
longer Collector and Secretary, Mr. John King,
Little Muddy Creek, having been appointed Collector
for the above District in his stead.
