PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 17th May, 1871.

In pursuance of the 29th section of “The Goldfields Act, 1866,” and of the Regulations made under that Act for the granting of Leases for Gold Mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant Leases for Gold Mining purposes to the applicants specified in the Schedule hereunder, unless valid objections can be shown against granting such Leases.

Copies of the applications made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office, Grahamstown.

SCHEDULE.

The Ruby Gold Mining Company, applied for by D. G. MacDonnell; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres more or less; bounded on the east by the “Southern Pacific,” on the west by the “Pride of the Thames,” on the North by the “North Devon,” and on the south by the “Eldorado,” in Karaka Block; known partly as the Punga Flat Cancelled Lease; not held under Miners’ Rights; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 10 a.m. on the 5th May, 1871.—R.B. 856.

Alexander Wilson, 15 years’ lease of 5 acres, bounded northward by the Claim formerly known as the “Scotchmans,” westward by the “Queen of the Isles,” southward by the Waterfall Creek, and eastward by abandoned ground, Tararu, known as the “Sunbeam” Claim; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 10.15 a.m. on the 8th May, 1871.—R.B. 857.

The Imperial Crown Gold Mining Company, applied for by Joseph Reeve, 15 years’ lease of 11 acres, bounded northward by “Imperial Crown” leases north-east by “Manukau,” “Waiotahi,” and “Duke of Magenta,” and south-east by “Prince Imperial” ground, Karaka, known as the “Croesus” and other ground, part held under application of Joseph Reeve of 5th April, withdrawn, and part under lease by the “Imperial Crown”; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 11:30 a.m. on 8th May, 1871.—R.B. 858.

Alexander Brodie, of Grahamstown; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres, more or less, of auriferous land; bounded by the “Canadian” and “Ottawa” Leases and adjoining ground, Karaka Block; Claim known as the “Montreal,” not held under Miners’ Right; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 10:25 a.m. on the 11th May, 1871.—R.B. 859.

The Kuranui Gold Mining Company, Registered; applied for by Charles Tothill; 15 years’ lease of about 3 acres, quartz reef, situated on Kuranui Hill; bounded by the “Eureka” and “Kuranui” Gold Mining Companies’ ground; Claim known as the “Pride of Kuranui”; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 10:30 a.m. on the 11th May, 1871.—R.B. 860.

Michael Hannaford, of Grahamstown, Mining Agent; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres, quartz reef; bounded by the “Star of the South,” “Eldorado,” and “Bendigo Independent” Claims, Karaka; part of Claim held under Miners’ Right, and part unoccupied ground; application dated 12th May, 1871.—R.B. 861.

George Lindsay, of Grahamstown, Miner; 15 years’ lease of 10 acres, more or less, of quartz land; bounded by the “Unicorn,” “City of Glasgow,” and “Star of the South” Claims, Karaka; Claim known as the “Goldfinch,” part held under Miners’ Rights and part unoccupied ground; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 11 a.m. on the 12th May, 1871.—R.B. 862.

Edward Thomas, of Grahamstown, Miner; lease of 3 acres, more or less, of auriferous quartz reef land; bounded towards the North by the “Nonpareil” and “Crown” ground, Westerly by the “Golden Calf” ground, and Southerly by the “Red Queen” ground, Karaka Block; Claim held under Miners’ Rights, and known as the “Retaliative” and “Retaliative No. 2”; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 11:5 a.m. on the 12th May, 1871.—R.B. 863.

R. McDonald Scott, 15 years’ lease of 10 acres, quartz reef; bounded by “St. Lawrence,” “Accidental,” “City of Dunedin,” and “Sunbeam” Claims, Tararu; known as the “City of Dunedin Extended” Claim, partly held under Miners’ Rights and part unoccupied ground; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 10:30 a.m. on the 13th May, 1871.—R.B. 864.

William McDonald and Hugh R. Jones, applied for by Arthur Lewin; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres of auriferous land; bounded on the East by the “Kuranui Star” and “Pride of Kuranui” Claims, on the South-east by the “Overland Route” Gold Mining Company, embracing the “Diamond” Claim, and on the West by vacant ground, Karaka, abandoned ground; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 11:30 a.m. on the 13th May, 1871.—R.B. 865.

William McDonald and H. R. Jones, applied for by Arthur Lewin; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres of auriferous land; bounded on the West by the “Overland Route” Gold Mining Company, and on the South by the beach, embracing the “Royal Albert,” “Kohinoor” and “Valentine” Claims, Karaka, abandoned ground; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, at 11:35 a.m. on the 13th May, 1871.—R.B. 866.

In pursuance of the powers vested in me by Section 49 of “The Highways Act, 1871,” I do hereby appoint

to be Highway Trustees for the Waitakerei South District Board for the remainder of the current Highway year.
