AUCKLAND PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

By Thomas Bannatyne Gillies, Esquire,
Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

UNDER and in pursuance of the powers in me vested in that behalf by “The Impounding Act, 1867,” I do hereby appoint those premises situate within the boundaries of the KIRIKIRIROA Highway District, on allotment No. 24, Hamilton East, to be, and be used as a Public Pound, for the purposes of the said recited act.

Given under my hand at Auckland, this twenty-eighth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-one.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Auckland, 28th April, 1871.

I DO hereby notify that the Highway Trustees of the Kirikirihoa District have, with my approval, appointed

Mr. William White

to be the Keeper of the Public Pound at Hamilton East.

And I do hereby further notify that the fees and prices set forth in the following Schedule may be taken and charged by the said Keeper.

SCHEDULE.

Fees and Prices to be taken and charged by Pound-Keepers.

I. POUNDAGE FEES.

For every horse, mare, gelding, colt, filly, foal, mule or ass ... 2 6
For every bull, cow, ox, steer, heifer or calf ... 2 6
For every ram, ewe, wether or lamb—for the first twenty ... 0 2
For the next thirty ... 0 1½
For the next fifty ... 0 1
All others above 100 ... 0 0½
For every boar, sow or other pig ... 1 0
For every goat or kid ... 1 0

The above fees to be paid for each day or part of a day during which the animal is kept in pound.

II. CHARGES FOR FOOD.

For every horse, mare, gelding, colt, filly, foal, mule, or ass ... 1 0
For every bull, cow, ox, steer or heifer ... 0 6
For every calf under six months ... 0 2
For every sheep or lamb ... 0 1
For every goat or kid ... 0 2
For every boar, sow or other pig ... 0 6

The above charges to be paid for each day or part of a day during which the animal is supplied with food and water by the Poundkeeper; but the owner may supply food and water, in which case those charges are not to be made.

III. CHARGES FOR GIVING NOTICE OF IMPOUNDING.

The charge for giving notice of the Impounding of Cattle to the owner thereof, or his agent, shall be computed at the rate of one shilling for every mile or part of a mile of the distance between the Public Pound, and the usual place of residence of such owner or agent, as the case may be.

IV. CHARGES FOR GIVING PUBLIC NOTICE UNDER THE 20TH SECTION OF THE SAID ACT.

HAURAKI GOLDFIELD.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 3rd May, 1871.

IN pursuance of the 29th Section of “The Goldfields Act, 1866,” and of the Regulations made under that Act for the granting of Leases for Gold Mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant Leases for Gold Mining purposes to the Applicants specified in the Schedule hereunder, unless valid objections can be shown against granting such Leases.

Copies of the Applications made and Plansannexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office, Grahamstown.

Thomas Trevor Hull, of Grahamstown, Sharebroker; 15 years lease of 8 acres, adjoining the “Auckland Independent,” and being part of the “Rose of Denmark” and “McIsaacs” abandoned leases, with adjoining ground; Karaka Block; Berry’s No. 2, held under Miners’ Rights, remainder unoccupied ground; known as the “Geelong” Claim; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, 10.30 a.m. 19th April, 1871—R.B. 843.

Alexander Farquhar, of Auckland, Master Mariner, and John Noble, of Shortland, Miner; applied for by John Noble; 15 years’ lease of 5 acres or thereabouts, bounded by the “Jupiter,” “Galatea,” and “Saint George Claims,” Hape Creek, Karaka Block; “City of Hamburg”; 4 men’s ground now held under Miners’ Rights; Claim known as the “British”; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, 10.30 a.m. 21st April, 1871—R.B. 844.

Walter Sully and Richard Kennan; applied for by Walter Sully; 15 years’ lease of about 3 acres, bounded by the “Queen of Beauty” and “Sailor Prince” Claims and unoccupied ground, situate at Wai-Karaka Creek; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, 3.15 p.m. 21st April, 1871—R.B. 845.

Peter Verdon Dixon, of Grahamstown, Engineer; 15 years’ lease of 5 acres, quartz reef, ground known as the “John o’Groats” Company’s lease, Wiseman’s Gully, bounded on the North by the “Golden Mint,” on the South by the “Matakana” and “Golden Link” Claims, on the East by the “Dixon’s No. 8” and adjoining ground, Karaka; the claim lately leased to the “John o’Groats” Gold Mining Company, Registered; application received in Warden’s Office, Grahamstown, 12.55 p.m. 22nd April, 1871—R.B. 846.
