PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 28th November 1870.
IT is hereby notified that a Lease has been refused to the Applicant named in the Schedule hereunder, and that the land therein mentioned, in so far as not otherwise legally occupied, is now open for occupation.

SCHEDULE.
George William Jones, for the Shooting Star Gold Mining Company, Registered; 15 years’ lease of 3 acres more or less, auriferous quartz land; situate on the Moanatairi Creek, including the “Shooting Star” and “Hand-in-Hand” Company’s ground; bounded by the “Providence,” “North Star,” “Middle Star,” “General Grant,” “Pukehinau,” and “United Service” Companies’ ground; application dated 1st September, 1870, R. B. 787.
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

IT is hereby notified that, in pursuance of the Regulations of subsection 3 of section 35 of the Regulations for the granting of Mining Leases, re-entry has been made by the Lessor upon the ground demised by the Lease hereunder described, and the Lessee’s estate therein determined, and that the land so demised is now open for occupation.

The Middle Star Extended Gold Mining Company, Registered; 15 years’ lease of 7 acres, 2 roods, and 12 perches, 22 men’s ground, Shellback Creek; bounded by the “Middle Star,” “Pride of Erin,” and “Clarkson’s No. 1” Companies’ ground; known as the “Middle Star Extended” ground; lease dated 5th April, 1870.

Under and in pursuance of the powers in me vested by the third clause of “The Highways Act, 1867,” I do hereby notify that I have altered and amended the respective boundaries of the Manata and Owhiwa Highway Districts, as hereunder set forth.
Given under my hand at Auckland, this twenty-third day of November, One thousand eight hundred and seventy.

The Manata Highway District.
Amended Boundaries.
Bounded towards the North, commencing at the South-western angle of allotment No. 14 of the Parish of Manai by the South-eastern side of the road which forms the North-western boundary of said allotment No. 14; thence crossing said road to the South-western angle of allotment No. 50 of said parish; thence by the Southern boundary of the Waikare parish to the sea; towards the East by the sea from the South-eastern angle of said parish of Waikare, to Bream Head; and towards the South-east, South, and West, by the sea and the Wangarei Harbour from Bream Head aforesaid, to the South-western angle of allotment No. 14 of the Parish of Manai aforesaid, the point of commencement.
The Owhiwa Highway District.
Amended Boundaries.
Bounded towards the North-east, commencing at the North-eastern angle of allotment No. 8 of the Parish of Wariara, by the Western side of the road which forms the Eastern boundary of allotment No. 8, and the North-eastern boundaries of allotments Nos. 9, 14, and 20 of said parish of Wariara; thence by the Western side of the road leading from allotment No. 20 aforesaid, to the North-western angle of allotment No. 9 of the parish of Owhiwa; thence by the Western side of the road leading from the North-western angle of allotment No. 9 of the Parish of Owhiwa aforesaid, to the North-eastern angle of allotment No. 18 of the Parish of Owhiwa aforesaid; towards the South-east by the South-eastern boundary of the Tamaterau Block from the angle last named, to the Wangarei Harbour; towards the South and West by the Wangarei Harbour aforesaid, from the South-eastern angle of the Tamaterau Block aforesaid, to the South-western angle of Dent’s claim, being part of the Southern boundary of the Whareora Highway District; and towards the West and North-west by the Whareora Highway District aforesaid, to the South-eastern angle of allotment 209 of the Parish of Owhiwa aforesaid; thence crossing a road to the North-eastern angle of allotment No. 8 of the Parish of Wariara aforesaid, the point of commencement.
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

By virtue of the powers in me vested by “The Highways Act, 1867,” I do hereby notify that all that portion of the Province of Auckland, hereunder described, shall be a District under the said Act, and that such District shall be known by the name prefixed thereto, that is to say:
