PROCLAMATION.

By Thomas Bannatyne Gillies,
Esquire, Superintendent of the
Province of Auckland.

WHEREAS by "The Superintendent’s Deputy Act, 1866," of the General Assembly, it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of any Province, by proclamation, to be published in the Government Gazette of such Province, to appoint such person as he may think fit, being an inhabitant of such Province, and being registered as an elector on the electoral roll of some electoral district within such Province, to be his Deputy, and as such to do, perform, and exercise all the acts, powers, and authorities which may be done, performed, or exercised by such Superintendent, or such of them only as shall be specified in such proclamation:

Now therefore I, Thomas Bannatyne Gillies, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, do hereby appoint Joseph May, Esq., of Epsom, J.P., to be my Deputy in the said Province, and as such to do, perform, and exercise all the acts, powers, and authorities which may be done, performed, and exercised by the said Deputy Superintendent, under the authority of the said before recited Act.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

It is hereby notified for public information that Every Maclean, Esq., J.P., M.P.C., has this day resigned the office of Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

PORT OF SHORTLAND.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

By virtue of the powers in me vested by "The Marine Act, 1867," I do hereby make the following supplementary Regulations for the Port of Shortland:—

  1. No vessel or boat shall be allowed to be alongside any public wharf within the Port, except for the purpose of discharging or loading cargo or passengers, and then for such time only as the Harbour-Master or Wharfinger may deem necessary for that purpose, which in no case shall exceed the duration of one tide, except under special circumstances, with permission of the Harbour-Master, in writing, signed by him. The Master of any vessel infringing this Regulation shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding £5.

  2. No cart, or other vehicle, horses, cattle, machinery or other weighty articles, shall be landed or shipped at the Grahamstown Wharf; and no goods, wares, or merchandise, shall be allowed to remain thereon for any longer period than the Harbour-Master or Wharfinger shall direct, under a penalty not exceeding £5.

And I do hereby abolish the rates, dues, and charges imposed by my notification dated the 21st February last, and do hereby impose the following rates, dues, and charges for the use of the several wharves, and for the landing of goods, wares, and merchandise, thereon and therefrom, viz.:

Shortland Wharf.

For every ton of goods, wares, or merchandise, landed or shipped thereon or therefrom... 0 9

For every ton of goods, wares, or merchandise, landed or shipped thereon or therefrom... 0 9

Grahamstown Wharf.

For every ton of goods, wares, or merchandise, landed or shipped thereon or therefrom... 0 9
