WHEREAS by an Act made and passed by the Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council thereof, entitled “The Auckland Municipal Police Act, 1866,” it was amongst other things enacted that the Superintendent may from time to time, by public notification in the Provincial Government Gazette, appoint and define the limits of cities, towns, and other places within the Province of Auckland, for the purposes of the said Act.
