PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Auckland, 26th February, 1870.
IT is hereby notified that the applications for Mining Leases, set forth in the Schedule hereunder, have been withdrawn, and that the land therein mentioned, in so far as not occupied under Miners’ Rights, is now open for occupation. Plans may be seen at the Engineer’s Office, Grahamstown.

SCHEDULE.
JOSEPH HARRISON, for the Southsea Castle Gold Mining Company; 10 years’ lease of about 8 acres; 200 yards by 200 yards; quartz reef; above the claim known as the “Duke’s Motto,” Tararu Creek; application notified in Gazette No. 46, dated 21st July, 1869, page 622; withdrawn 21st February, 1870.
ROBERT KELLY, for the Auckland Gold Mining Company; 15 years’ lease of about 2½ acres, situated in Wiseman’s Gully; bounded on the East by the “Annabella” claim, on the West by the “Telegraph” Gold Mining Company, on the North by the “United Kingdom” Gold Mining Company, and on the South by the “Royal No. 1” Gold Mining Company; known as the “Isabella” claim; application notified in Gazette No. 72, dated 28th September, 1869, page 1203; withdrawn 22nd February, 1870.
ERNEST ARTHUR CHAPMAN, for self and Dudley Robert Eyre; 15 years’ lease of 16 acres; being all that parcel of auriferous and quartz containing land, situate on the Karaka Creek; bounded towards the North and West by ground applied for as the “Proof Positive Extension” Gold Mining Company; on the South by the sea beach at the mouth of the Karaka Creek, and on the East by Mary-street, Shortland; application notified in Gazette No. 60, dated 1st September 1869, page 895; withdrawn 21st February, 1870.

IN pursuance of the 112th clause of the Quarantine Regulations in force within the Colony of New Zealand, I do hereby nominate and appoint ROBERT TELFER CORBETT, Esq., M.D., to be Health Officer for the Port of Shortland, in the room of Henry Weekes, Esq., resigned.
