PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Auckland, 22nd February, 1870.
IT is hereby notified that the applications for Mining Leases, set forth in the Schedule hereunder, have been abandoned or withdrawn, and that the land therein mentioned, in so far as not occupied under Miners’ Rights, is now open for occupation. Plans may be seen at the Engineer’s Office, Grahams-town.

CHARLES HART, 15 years’ lease of 16 acres; situate on the Tararu Creek, on the Thames Goldfield; bounded on the North by land not taken up under Miners’ Rights, on the South-east by the Tararu Creek, on the East by the “Lord of the Isles” claim, and on the West by land not taken up under Miners’ Rights; application notified in Gazette No. 61, dated 3rd September, 1869, page 921; withdrawn 16th February, 1870.
WILLIAM B. HEATH, for the Great Britain Gold Mining Company, 15 years’ lease of 3 acres; adjoining “Monarch” claim, Waiotahi; application notified in Gazette No. 3, dated 8th January, 1870, page 17.

THE following Act, passed by the Provincial Council, and assented to by the Superintendent on behalf of the Governor, is published for the information of Highway Trustees.

An Act to Amend the Highways Act, 1867.
BE it enacted by the Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council thereof as follows :
Short Title.
- The Short Title of this Act shall be “The Highways Act, 1867, Amendment Act, 1870.”
Section 23, Highway Act, 1867, amended.
- Section 23 of “The Highways Act, 1867,” shall be and is hereby amended by the omission therefrom of the words “to be published in the Provincial Gazette and” and by the addition thereto and at the end thereof of the words “and a certified copy thereof to be delivered at the Provincial Government Office for the time being of which notice shall be given in the Provincial Government Gazette.”

IT is hereby notified for general information that the Tender of Mr. HENRY DUNCAN, of £40 per annum, has been accepted for the exclusive right to cut Flax on lot 15, parish of Karioi near Raglan County of Rutland.

IT is hereby notified for general information that the Tender of Mrs. CHARLOTTE GILMOUR, of £6 per annum, has been accepted for the lease for one year, of allotment No 1, of section No 10, of the City of Auckland, situated between Wynyard and Stanley streets, Mechanics’ Bay.
This was the only Tender received.
