PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Auckland, 11th February, 1870.

I DO HEREBY NOTIFY that I have appointed Constable John McWilliams to be Inspector of all Slaughterhouses, Inspector of Nuisances, and Inspector of Bread, for the Thames Goldfields, from the 1st of March, 1870.

John Gwynneth, for self and others; 15 years’ lease of 15 acres; situate on the Northeast boundary line of the land applied for under lease by Corlett, Wilkinson and Berry, Karaka Block, about 2 ½ miles above McIsaacs’ claim, near the Bell Rock claim, and adjoining the “Great Unknown” Company’s ground, applied for under lease; known as the “Advertiser” claim; application notified in Gazette No. 69, dated 22nd September, 1869, page 1132; withdrawn 9th February, 1870.

F. T. Kenny, 15 years’ lease of 13 acres more or less; bounded by “John O’Groats” and “Matakana” on the South, by the “Golden Mint” on the East, by the “Star of Otahuhu” on the West, and by vacant ground on the North; application notified in Gazette No. 66, dated 15th September, 1869, page 1053; withdrawn, 9th February, 1870.

James J. Holland, 15 years’ lease of 16 ½ acres; bounded towards the North by a line from a peg near the junction of Pollen and Mary-streets to a peg at the Government Magazine, thence towards the East by a line to a peg immediately South of the Scotch Church, thence towards the South by a line to a peg immediately North of Bute-ment’s Lemonade Manufactory, and thence towards the West by a line to the point of commencement; situated in Shortland; application notified in Gazette No. 63, dated 8th September, 1869, page 976; withdrawn 5th February, 1870.

John Gwynneth, for the Great Unknown Gold Mining Company; 15 years’ lease of 16 ½ acres; situated at the Upper Karaka; bounded on the North West by a creek, name unknown; on the East by a line commencing at the S.W. corner peg of Wilkinson’s claim, and running in a Southerly direction 9 chains or thereabouts; thence by a line in a Westerly direction for a distance of 18 chains or thereabouts; thence by a line bearing northerly for a distance of 9 chains or thereabouts to the S.E. corner peg of McGregor’s claim. Application notified in Gazette No. 63, dated 8th September, 1869, page 979; withdrawn 9th February, 1870.

I HEREBY notify for general information that, under the authority of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled “The Gaolers’ Act, 1858,” I have appointed Constable Richard Saunderson to be the Gaoler of the Public Gaol at Russell.
