PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

By EVERY MACLEAN, Esquire, Deputy Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

WHEREAS, by virtue of "The Highways Act, 1867," it is provided that if, at the first or any other annual meeting or adjournment thereof, the Electors shall fail to elect Trustees for the ensuing year, and the Chairman of such meeting shall not communicate to the Superintendent a sufficient reason for such omission, it shall be unlawful for the Superintendent to appoint Trustees, who shall have the status and all the powers, duties, and liabilities of Trustees elected as aforesaid;

And whereas the Electors of the REMUERA District under the said Act have failed to elect Trustees, and the Chairman of the meeting convened for that purpose has not communicated to the Superintendent a sufficient reason for such omission:

Now, therefore, I, EVERY MACLEAN, Deputy of the Superintendent aforesaid, in pursuance of the powers and authority enabling me in that behalf, do hereby appoint

THOMAS CHEESEMAN,
HENRY ELLIS,
SAMUEL JACKSON,
WILLIAM MORRIN,
GEORGE TURRELL,

to be Highway Trustees for the said REMUERA District, and to have and hold the status and all the powers, duties, and liabilities conferred or imposed upon Trustees elected under the provisions of the before-recited Act.

Given under my hand, at Auckland, this seventeenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.

BY virtue of the powers in the Superintendent vested by the third section of "The Highways Act, 1867," I do hereby notify that all that portion of the Province of Auckland, comprised within the boundaries hereunder described, shall be a District for the purposes of the said Act, and that such District shall be known by the name thereto prefixed, that is to sayβ€”

THE KAUAERANGA HIGHWAY DISTRICT.

Commencing at the North at the mouth of the Karaka Stream, thence by that stream to its source, thence by Shortland range to the source of the river Kauaeranga, thence by that river to the sea, thence by the sea coast to the point of commencement.

Given under my hand, at Auckland, this seventeenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.

THE WAIOTAHI HIGHWAY DISTRICT.

Commencing in the north at the mouth of the Tararu Stream, thence by that stream to its source, thence by Shortland Range to the source of the Karaka Stream, thence by that stream to the sea, thence by the sea-coast to the point of commencement.

Given under my hand at Auckland, this seventeenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.

IN pursuance of the powers vested in the Superintendent by the third section of "The Highways Act, 1867," I do hereby notify, for general information, that I have altered and amended the boundaries of the NEWTON District under the said Act, as hereunder set forth.

Given under my hand, at Auckland, this eighteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.
