THE undersigned, Morton Jones, hereby make application to register the "Pai Mariri Gold Mining Company, Registered," under the provisions of the "Mining Companies’ Limited Liability Act, 1865." And I do solemnly and sincerely declare that the following statement is, to the best of my belief and knowledge, true in every particular, namely:-

The name and style of the Company is "The Pai Mariri Gold Mining Company, Registered."
The place of operations is at Hauraki, in Queen’s County, in New Zealand.
The nominal capital of the Company is Three thousand two hundred pounds in Three hundred and twenty shares of Ten pounds each.
The amount already paid is Two thousand five hundred and sixty pounds.
The name of the Manager is Morton Jones.
The office of the Company is in the Brunswick Store in Shortland.

After Parliament moved to Wellington in 1865, the Auckland Provincial Council sat in General Assembly House (depicted).

It was nicknamed the 'Shedifice' as it was large and drafty, with a leaking roof. First premier Henry Sewell described it as 'a great wooden barnshaped affair, which might serve for a Hospital, a Jail, or a Barrack'.
