PUBLIC RECEPTION OF HIS EXCELLENCY SIR GEORGE F. BOWEN, G.C.M.G.


Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 9th March, 1868.

THE Superintendent notifies for public information, that His Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen, G.C.M.G., will land in Auckland, on Thursday next, the 12th day of March, instant.

The Superintendent invites the Inhabitants of Auckland to observe that day as a PUBLIC HOLIDAY.

THE following order of proceedings, to be observed on the occasion of His Excellency’s public landing on Thursday next, has been agreed to by the “Reception Committee,” and is published for general information.

NOTE.—It is desirable that the public landing of His Excellency the Governor should take place as near high water as possible.

His Honor the Superintendent and two members of the Reception Committee will go on board H.M.S. Falcon as soon as she anchors, in order to intimate to His Excellency the course to be followed, and to furnish him with copies of addresses intended to be delivered.
