PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

In pursuance of the power in me vested
by the fourth section of "The High-
ways Act, 1867," I do hereby bring the said
Act into operation in the District of Mata-
kana, and appoint the first meeting of the
Electors to take place at the School house,
Matakana, on Friday, the twenty-seventh
day of December inst., at noon.

ERECTION OF NEW TOLL BAR.
NOTICE is hereby given, in terms of
Clause 5 of "The Turnpike Act,
1866," of the erection of a new Toll Bar, at
the junction of Owen’s Road and the New
Road on the east side of Mount Eden.

Council for the Electoral District of Auck-
land City East, has been returned with an
endorsement thereon as follows:—
"I, Henry Colin Balneavis, the Returning
Officer for the Electoral District of Auck-
land City East, do hereby declare that in
pursuance of the Writ to me directed,
"bearing date the sixth day of December,
"1867, the undermentioned Candidate is
duly elected a Member of the Provincial
"Council for the said District.
