The Tranmere Shoal Buoy (painted black) for turning into the channel at the South cone shaped, without its former cage mounting, has been placed and moored at the S.E. end of the shoal in 3 ½ fathoms at low water spring tides, with the low beacon on South Head bearing N.E. ½ N., and the lower beacon on the North Shore N. ½ W. by compass.

NOTICE.

Compensation Court Office,
Auckland, July 29th, 1867.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the adjourned sittings of the Compensation Court, to investigate claims to confiscated lands in the Bay of Plenty District, will be hold at Whakatane, in the said District, on the ninth day of September next.

E Panuitanga tenei kia mohiotia ai, ko te nohoanga o te Kooti whakawa mo nga whenua kua tangohia, i te takiwa o te Rawhiti, ki hai no i oti i tera whakawakanga, ka tuia ki Whakatane, i tana takiwa a te 9 o nga ra o Hepetema e haere ake nei.

The South Head Spit Buoy, (painted red) cone shaped, without its former barrel mounting, has been replaced and moored in four fathoms, (at low water spring tides) distance from high water mark, (at foot of sand hill) about 3 cables, with the signal mast on South Head, bearing E.N.E. by compass.

The Emma Shoal Buoy has been removed, and will not be replaced. The North Shore Beacons in line clear the East End of Emma Shoal a full cable’s length.

Notice is also given, that in future there will be no Buoy at the Treachery Shoal.

Matilda Rock, a cone Buoy, painted red, has recently been moored in 10 fathoms, at low water, distance from high water mark (at foot of sand hill) 2 cables, with the signal mast on South Head, bearing S.E. by compass. The Buoy is placed near midway between the rock and a shallow patch of foul ground abreast of Poroporo, and Mariners are hereby cautioned not to pass between the Matilda Rock Buoy and the South Head shore.

Mariners are further directed when proceeding to sea by the South Channel, on an ebb-tide, to keep the Southern Shore aboard, which will guide them in the true set of tide.
