PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

By DANIEL POLLEN, Esq., Deputy Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

UNDER and in pursuance of the powers vested in the Superintendent in that behalf, by “The City and Harbour Endowments Act, 1863,” I hereby notify for public information, that all that piece or parcel of land set forth in the Schedule hereunder written, will on Monday, the 2nd day of September, 1867, at the Waste Lands Office, be offered for lease by public auction, under the said “City and Harbour Endowments Act, 1863,” for a term of twenty-one years.

Given under my hand at Auckland, in the said Province this first day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven.

IT is hereby notified for general information, that, under and in pursuance of the powers vested in the Superintendent by virtue of the eighth section of “The Protection of certain Animals Act Amendment Act, 1866,”

JESSE SAGE, District Constable at Alexandra,

has been appointed a Ranger under the said Act, vice William Kelly, late Constable, whose appointment is hereby rescinded.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

IT is hereby notified, for the information of persons who may desire to forward specimens of Soils to the Colonial Museum for chemical analysis, that the prescribed Forms of Declaration, with which all such contributions must be accompanied, are obtainable upon application at this office.

Subjoined are instructions to be observed by contributors in the transmission of specimens.

INSTRUCTIONS.

Attention is requested to the following Instructions by persons who may desire to contribute samples of Soils to the Colonial Museum for the purpose of being chemically analyzed:—

  1. The quantity transmitted should not be less than—
    6 lbs. weight of surface soil,
    2 lbs. weight of sub-soil.

  2. The surface soil should be selected free from roots and undecomposed vegetable matter, and of uniform quality, gathered in several equal portions from different parts of the field, and from two inches below the surface.
