Regulations for the Queen-street, Eastern, and Western Wharves

There shall be paid for all goods, wares, and merchandise of every description, and all and every other article (the produce of New Zealand only excepted), the sum of one shilling and sixpence per ton, weight or measurement, on the same being landed on Queen-street Wharf, out of any Ship or Boat.

Unless by permission of the Port Master or Harbour Master, no bricks, slates, ballast, gravel, sand, coals, coke, stones, or dirt of any kind, shall be deposited from any Vessel or Boat on the Wharf, but shall be discharged into carts; and no bricks, slates, ballast, gravel, sand, coals, coke, stones, or dirt of any kind, shall be deposited from any cart upon the Wharf, but shall be put on board such vessel appointed to receive the same.

No lime in bulk shall be landed on the Wharf, or discharged into carts, before being put into bags and tied; and no cask large or small, shall be rolled along the Wharf, either up or down, but in all cases carted off and on the Wharf.

No person shall, without due authority, interfere with the Port Master, Harbour Master, or other person deputed by either of them, in the execution of their duty; resist, obstruct, or impede them in the performance thereof; or use any threatening or abusive language to them, or either of them.

All Vessels and Boats of every description must keep clear of the watermen’s steps, on both sides, so as not to obstruct the passage to and from the same; any warps, boats, timber, or other articles made fast to or about the steps, with no person in charge of them, the Portmaster or Harbourmaster may cast off or cut such obstruction, and let the Boat or other article go adrift, at the risk of the owner.

Every person taking a cart or any other vehicle on the Wharf, shall walk at the head of his horse whilst on the Wharf, at a pace not faster than a walk; and no person shall ride either up or down the Wharf, on horseback, but shall in all cases lead his horse.

The following charges will be made for the use of the cranes on the Queen-street or Eastern Wharf and the Rivertan or old Wharf:
- For every licensed cargo-boat, per load ... 1s. 6d.
For every registered coasting vessel ... 8s. 0d.
The above charges must be made prior to using the cranes.
- The following charges will be made for the use of the Queen-street or Eastern Wharf, and the Western or old Wharf:
- For every cart or other vehicle drawn by one horse ... 6d.
- For each additional horse ... 6d.
- For every barrow or truck ... 3d.
- For every vehicle with two wheels without horses ... 3d.
- For every horse, not drawing any cart or vehicle ... 6d.
- For every head of great cattle ... 3d.
- For every pig, sheep, or goat ... 1d.

Nothing herein contained shall be construed as in any manner altering or affecting the Regulations now in force for the Port of Onehunga.

So soon as the above Regulations shall come into operation, all previous Regulations made under the provisions of the Wharf Regulations Act, 1858, shall cease to be in operation.
N.B. – Any person guilty of a breach of, or non-performance of, any of the above Regulations, is liable to a penalty of £50, under Sec. 29 of the “Marine Act 1866.”
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION

Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.
Under and in pursuance of the powers vested in me in that behalf by the “Impounding Act, 1856,” of the Local Legislature of the Province of Auckland, I hereby abolish as a Public Pound those premises at the North Shore, in the occupation of Mr. Samuel Cochrane, and adjoining the property of Mr. Edward Hall, Storekeeper. Notified in Gazette No. 12, of the date April 16th, 1866, and do hereby appoint those premises, being allotment No. 1, in the Township of North Cheltenham at the North Shore, to be and be used as a Public Pound for the purposes of the said Act.
Given under my hand at Auckland, this fourteenth day of November, in the year of our Lord, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-six.
