Gentlemen,โI have the honour to ac-
knowledge the receipt (by the hands of Mr.
Commissioner White,) of a conveyance of a
portion of ground which you have dedicated
to the Public for the purpose of a line of
Tramway or Canal, to connect the waters of
the Waitemata and Kaipara Harbours.
I beg to thank you on behalf of the Public
for this manifestation of your desire to aid
the Government of this Province in opening
up the Country, and for thus setting an
example of public spirit which is worthy of
imitation by both races of Her Majestyโs
subjects in this Colony.
