PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

By His Honor FREDERICK WHITAKER, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

UNDER and in pursuance of the powers vested in me in that behalf by “The Impounding Act, 1856,” of the Local Legislature of the Province of Auckland, I, Frederick Whitaker, Esquire, Superintendent of the said Province, do hereby notify that every of the Keepers of the Public Pounds situate within the said Province is authorised to demand and receive the following fees and charges for and in respect of the several matters and things hereinafter specified, that is to say:

I.—Poundage Fees.

For every Horse, Mare, Gelding, Colt, Filly, Foal, Mule, or Ass ... 2 6
,, Bull, Cow, Ox, Steer, Heifer, or Calf ... 2 6
,, Ram, Ewe, Wether, or Lamb—
For the first twenty ... 0 2
The next Thirty ... 0 1½
The next fifty ... 0 1
All others above 100 ... 0 0½
,, Boar, Sow, or other pig ... 1 0
,, Goat or Kid ... 1 0

The above fees to be paid for each day, or part of a day, during which the animal is kept in pound.

II.—Charges for Food.

The above charges to be paid for each day or part of a day, during which the animal is supplied with food and water by the Pound-keeper, but the owner may supply food and water, in which case these charges are not to be made.

III.—Charges for giving notice of Impounding.

The charge for giving notice of the impounding of Cattle to the owner thereof or his agent shall be computed at the rate of one shilling for every mile or part of a mile of the distance between the public pound and the usual place of residence of such owner or agent, as the case may be.

IV.—Charges for giving public notice under the 20th Section of the said Act of the Impounding of Cattle.

For inserting notice of Impounding in the Provincial Gazette or any other local Paper ... The usual charges for such advertisements.

I HEREBY notify for general information that I have appointed

MR. EDWARD HALL

to be Keeper of the North Shore Public Pound.

Compensation Court,
Auckland, March 23rd, 1866.

NOTICE is hereby given that a sitting of the Compensation Court will be holden at New Plymouth, on Friday, the 1st of June next and following days for the purpose of hearing and determining the claims of persons to compensation on account of the taking under the authority of the “New Zealand Settlements Act, 1863,” of the block of land in the Province of Taranaki hereunder described.

WAITARA SOUTH.

All that block of land at Taranaki bounded on the North by the sea; on the east by the Waitara River from its mouth to the junction of the Manganui and Waitara Rivers; on the South by a straight line from the junction of the Manganui and Waitara Rivers to Tururutangi on the Waiongana River; and on the west by a straight line to the sea at Waitaha, excepting lands within the above described boundaries held under grants from the Crown.

OAKURA.

Bounded on the north by the sea; on the east by the Omata block from the sea to where the boundary of the Omata Block is cut by the native path running between the Patua and Poakai Ranges till it cuts the Hangatahua River to the sea, except the block of land known as the Tataraimaka Block.
