PROCLAMATION.

By ROBERT GRAHAM, Esquire,

Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, in the Colony of New Zealand.

WHEREAS an infectious disease known as Pleuro-Pneumonia has broken out amongst the Cattle in the Province of Auckland, and it is desirable to check the spread of such disease.

And whereas by a warrant under the hand of His Excellency the Governor, bearing date the fourteenth day of September, 1864, the said Governor, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, delegated to the Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, certain powers conferred upon him by the “Diseased Cattle Act, 1861,” subject to certain regulations to be made by the Governor in Council under the said recited Act.

Now therefore, I, Robert Graham, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, in pursuance of such delegation hereby revoke the Proclamation issued by me upon the 8th day of December, 1864, in so far as it defines the limits of the Infected Districts, and I do hereby proclaim and declare that from and after the day of the date hereof, that part only of the Province of Auckland, lying South of a right line running west from the Southern point of Kawere Island to the summit of the Dome, thence by a right line to the confluence of the Hoteo and Kaipara Rivers. Thence by the Hotea River to high water mark in Kaipara Harbour thence by high water mark to the Tapora Flats, and thence by a right line to the North Head of Kaipara Harbour, and which lines form the Southern Boundary of the electoral district of the County of Marsden shall be and be deemed to be an Infected District, within the meaning of the “Diseased Cattle Act, 1861.” And in further pursuance of such delegations, I, the said Superintendent, do hereby make and ordain the following regulation, which shall be in force in the said district of the Province of Auckland.


REGULATION.

No person shall drive, or permit to be driven, or transport, or remove any cattle whatever from the said Infected District to that part of the Province of Auckland lying to the North of the said boundary, under a penalty not exceeding £200.

Given under my hand at Auckland, this sixteenth day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-four.
