Cattle, and shall be recovered in addition and
by the same means as any penalty inflicted
by the said Act: Provided that such penalty,
together with such costs, charges, and
expenses, shall not exceed the whole the
sum of £500.
-
It shall be lawful for any Inspector
appointed under the said Act to take such
steps as to him shall seem fit for destroying
all Cattle which may be infected as aforesaid,
wherever such Cattle may be found, and
without giving such notice as aforesaid, and
to take the necessary steps for burying or
burning the carcasses of any such Cattle
whenever they may be so destroyed. -
It shall be lawful for any such Inspector
as aforesaid to kill or cause to be killed any
Cattle which he may have reason to suspect
are infected as aforesaid. -
It shall be lawful for any such Inspector
to inspect all or any public Slaughter Houses
or other places where Cattle are or may be
slaughtered, for the purpose of examining the
carcasses of Cattle there slaughtered; and if
it shall appear to such Inspector that any
carcasses are the carcasses of Cattle infected
as aforesaid, he shall cause such carcasses to
be forthwith burned or buried. -
No person in the District of Auckland,
proclaimed as aforesaid, shall permit or suffer
the carcasses of any Cattle infected or other-
wise, to remain unburied or unburned on his
premises, or on any land in his occupation, for
a longer period than 12 hours, and any per-
son offending against this Regulation shall
forfeit and pay any penalty not exceeding
£50: Provided that this Regulation shall not
extend to cases of cattle slaughtered for the
purposes of human food. -
It shall not be lawful for any person,
under any pretence whatsoever, and notwith-
standing that he may have obtained such
certificate as aforesaid, to drive, remove, or ex-
port any Cattle out of the Auckland District
proclaimed as aforesaid. And any person
who shall offend against this Regulation shall
forfeit and pay any penalty not exceeding
£500. -
Any person who shall wilfully obstruct,
impede, or interfere with any Inspector in the
lawful discharge of his duty, shall be liable to
a penalty not exceeding £500.

PROCLAMATION.
By ROBERT GRAHAM, Esquire, Super-
intendent of the Province of
Auckland, in the Colony of New
Zealand.
WHEREAS by the “Diseased Cattle
Act, 1861,” it was provided that the
Governor in Council might by warrant under
his hand from time to time delegate to the
Superintendent of any Province within the
Colony of New Zealand, all or any of the
powers vested in the Governor or the
Governor in Council by the said Act, subject
to such regulations as he might think fit, and
might from time to time rescind such delega-
tion; and whereas the said Governor hath
with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council delegated to Robert Graham, Esq.,
so long as he shall hold the office of
Superintendent of the Province of Auckland,
the several powers vested in the said Governor
by the second, fourth, fifth, seventh, ninth,
and tenth sections of the said Act subject to
being rescinded as in the said Act provided,
and subject to the Regulations issued by the
Governor in Council, on the first day of
October, One thousand eight hundred and
sixty-one, and to any other regulations to be
from time to time duly made.
Now, therefore, I, the said Robert Graham,
by virtue of such powers in me vested do
hereby proclaim and declare,—That after the
date hereof, the Port of Sydney in Australia,
shall be deemed to be, for the purposes of the
above recited Act, an infected district within
the meaning of the said Act, and no cattle
shall be allowed to be imported from the
above mentioned Port, into the Province
of Auckland, until further notice; and that
in case any cattle shall be imported from the
said district contrary to this Proclamation,
such cattle shall be destroyed forthwith in
such manner and at such places as the
Superintendent may proclaim and appoint.

HEREBY notify, for the information of
all Persons concerned, that, in conformity
with the provisions of the Crown Lands
Ordinances (No. 1, Session 10, and No. 10,
Session 11), I have convened meetings of the
holders of Depasturing Licences in the several
under-mentioned Hundreds, and that the
Persons whose names are subjoined have been
duly elected by such holders to be Wardens,
under the said Ordinances, for the current
year.

Bethell, Abraham Mears, Joseph Bycroft.
For the Hundred of ONEHUNGA.—Thomas
