THISTLE NOTICE.
Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 23rd Nov., 1864.
THE attention of Settlers interested in the undermentioned Districts is invited to the necessity that now exists for an effort being made by them for the purpose of destroying all the noxious Thistles growing upon the undermentioned Roads and Lands:
The Public Roads within the
Mount Albert District.
Mount Smart ”
Oraki ”
Otahuhu & Mangarie ”
Howick ”
Karangahape ”
Also
The Public Roads and the Lands belonging to the Aboriginal Natives within the
Drury & Waiuku District.
Wairoa ”
Waiwera ”
Also within the Mahurangis District. The Public Roads, the Public Reserves, the Waste Lands of the Crown, and the Lands belonging to the Aboriginal Natives.
The Inspector of Thistles reports that unless active measures are at once taken by the Settlers themselves their farms will be more or less seriously injured by the Thistle seed from the places above-mentioned, the Government Contractors being now under no obligation to destroy the Thistles growing on these places.

AUCTION OF SUNDRY TOLLS AND THE SLAUGHTER-HOUSE FEES.

THE undermentioned Leases, for the twelve months commencing 1st January, 1865, will be disposed of by Public Auction, at noon of SATURDAY, the 17th December next, at Mr. Samuel Cochrane’s Mart, Fort street, viz.:
Lease of fees levyable at the Public Slaughter House, Newmarket.
Lease of Tolls levyable at both Toll Gates, Newmarket.
Lease of Tolls levyable at the Queen-street Wharf, together with the Fees chargeable at the Wharf Weigh Bridge.
Lease of the Crane Dues levyable on the Queen-street Wharf.
Lease of the Fees chargeable for supplying Water from the Government Tank in Official Bay.
Conditions of the several Leases may be seen at the Auction Mart.

TENDERS INVITED.
Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 28th Nov., 1864.
TENDERS will be received at this office until noon of Monday, the 12th day of December next, for furnishing the Provincial Government with the undermentioned supplies, in such quantities as may be required, during the six months commencing the 1st January, 1865, upon the conditions hereinafter specified.
Separate tenders to be sent in for each service. Information may be obtained at this Office.
FIREWOOD—TEA TREE.
Of the usual lengths.
Lengths, cut and split to suit office fireplaces.
COALS.
Tenders to state the price per ton at which firewood and coals will be delivered at the Gaol, the Hospital, the Lunatic Asylum, Stockade, (Mount Eden,) and the several public offices.
CONVICT RATIONS.
Best }
Ordinary } delivered at Mount Eden Gaol.
Solitary }
HARD LABOUR RATIONS.
Best }
delivered at the Auckland or
Ordinary } Mount Eden Gaols, as may be
Solitary } required.
LOCK-UP RATIONS.
Delivered at the Auckland Lock-up.
The rations must be delivered at the above-mentioned establishments by half-past six o’clock each morning, or the Gaoler will purchase at the expense of the Contractor.
N.B.—The Tenders for the Convict, Hard Labour, and Lock-up Rations will be considered together, and the contract will be given to the same person.
PRISON SUPPLIES.
Straw, at per ton of 2,240 lbs.
Oil, at per gallon.
Cotton wick, at per lb.
Delivered at the Auckland or Mount Eden Gaols, as may be required.
POLICE.
Oil, at per gallon.
Cotton wick, at per lb.
RATIONS FOR DESTITUTE PERSONS.
Consisting of Bread 1½ lb., Meat (free from bone), ½ pound, at per ration.
PROVISIONS FOR PROVINCIAL HOSPITAL AND LUNATIC ASYLUM.
