Superintendent’s Office,

THE following, "Warrant," together with the "Regulations" referred to therein, are published for general information.

WHEREAS by the "Diseased Cattle Act, 1861," it was provided that the Governor in Council might by Warrant under his hand from time to time delegate to the Superintendent of any Province within the said Colony all or any of the powers vested in the Governor or Governor in Council by the said Act subject to such regulations as he might think fit, and might from time to time rescind such delegation:
Now therefore I, Sir George Grey the Governor of the said Colony of New Zealand with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof and in pursuance and exercise of the said power and authority, do by this Warrant under my hand delegate to Robert Graham, Esq., so long as he shall hold the Office of Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, in the said Colony, the several powers vested in me by the second, fourth, fifth, seventh, ninth, and tenth sections of the said Act, subject to be rescinded as in the said Act provided, and subject to the Regulations issued on the Fifteenth day of September One thousand eight hundred and sixty-two, and to any other Regulations to be from time to time duly made.
Given under my hand at the Government House, at Auckland, this twenty-sixth day of January, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.

Tenders to be endorsed "Tender for eradicating Thistles."
From the 20th February till the 30th June, 1863, from persons willing to contract for eradicating and destroying all noxious ('thistles') growing upon any waste lands of the Crown, lands belonging to the Aboriginal Natives, and on any public road or reserve within the North Shore Sub-district, as hereinafter described.
The North Shore Sub-district is bounded on the N.E. by the sea; on the N.W. by the Wairau stream, by the middle line of a road running between lots 104 and 105 of the Parish of Takapuna, in a South Westerly direction to the Lucas Creek Road; on the West by the middle of the Lucas Creek Road, by the middle of Callan’s Bay Road to the Harbour; on the South by the Harbour of Waitemata.

Signals at Hokianga.

THE following Notice respecting the Signals at the Hokianga River is published for general information.

NOTICE TO MARINERS.
HOKIANGA RIVER.
Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 26th January, 1863.
MASTERS of Vessels and others navigating the Hokianga River are hereby informed that, on and after the 1st day of March proximo, the following will be the Code of Signals for taking Hokianga Bar and entering the River:
- SIGNALS.--From the Signal-staff on the South Head the following Signals will be made:
No. 1. Blue Peter—Keep to Sea; Bar is not fit to take.
No. 2. Red Flag—Take the Bar; there is no danger.
No. 3. Blue with White Cross—Ebb Tide; Bar not fit.
No. 4. White—First Quarter Flood.
When these flags are understood, they should be answered from the ship by a pendant or flag where best seen. The Pilot will be at the entrance of the Heads in his boat, but seldom outside the Bar.
- If a vessel is too far to the North for entering, a White Square will be hoisted on the South yard-arm; and if too far to the South, it will be hoisted on the North yard-arm. Vessels to be particularly guided by the hoisting of the White Square at the yard-arms, and take that direction. No vessel should take the Bar until the Flagstaff bears E. ¼ N.

Regulations respecting Delegation of Powers to Superintendents under "Diseased Cattle Act, 1861."
At the Government House at Wellington, the fifteenth day of September, 1862.

His Excellency THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by Warrants under the hand of His Excellency the Governor, bearing date the fifteenth day of September One Thousand Eight hundred and sixty-two, the Governor has, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of New Zealand, delegated to the Superintendents respectively of the Provinces of Auckland, Taranaki, Wellington, Hawke’s Bay, Nelson, Marlborough, Canterbury, Otago and Southland, certain powers conferred on him by the "Diseased Cattle Act, 1861," subject to certain Regulations to be made by the Governor in Council under the recited Act;
