PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Auckland, 23rd May, 1862.

I hereby notify for general information that by virtue of the authority vested in the Superintendent by the “Auckland Waste Lands Act, 1858,” I have appointed

WILLIAM HARRIS, of Broadstairs, Kent,

to act as an Emigration Agent for the Province of Auckland, in issuing Land Orders to persons about to emigrate from Great Britain in connexion with the Nonconformist Special Settlement,—vice W. R. Brame.

PROVINCE OF AUCKLAND.

Acts left to their operation.

Colonial Secretary’s Office.
Auckland, 22nd May, 1862.

THE following Acts passed by the Provincial Council of the Province of Auckland, intituled :—

“The Auckland Municipal Police Act, 1862,”

“The Industrial School Act, 1862,”

“The Highways Act, 1862,”

“The Town Boards Act, 1862,”

“The Appropriation Act, 1862,”

“The Cattle Branding Repeal Act, 1862,”

having been laid before the Governor, His Excellency has been pleased to leave the same to their operation.

TENDERS.

Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 25th May, 1862.

TENDERS will be received at this office until noon of Monday, the 16th day of June next, for furnishing the Provincial Government with the undermentioned supplies, in such quantities as may be required, during the six months commencing the 1st July, 1862, upon the conditions hereinafter specified.

Separate tenders to be sent in for each service. Information may be obtained at this office.

FIREWOOD—TEA TREE.

Of the usual lengths.

Lengths cut and split to suit office fire-places.

Tenders to state the price per ton at which the above will be delivered at the Gaol, the Hospital, the Lunatic Asylum, Stockade, (Mount Eden), and the several public offices.

CONVICT RATIONS.

Best
Ordinary
Solitary
} delivered at Mount Eden Gaol.

HARD LABOUR RATIONS.

Best
Ordinary
Solitary
} delivered at the Auckland or Mount Eden Gaols, as may be required.

LOCK-UP RATIONS.

The before-mentioned rations must be delivered at the Auckland and Mount Eden Gaols by ½ past 6 o’clock each morning, or the Gaoler will purchase at the expense of the Contractor.

N.B.—The Tenders for the Convict and Hard Labour Rations will be considered separately, and the contract will not necessarily be given to the same person.

SUPPLIES.

Straw, at per ton of 2,240 lbs.

Oil, at per gallon.

Cotton wick, at per lb.

Delivered at the Auckland or Mount Eden Gaols, as may be required.

POLICE.

Oil, at per gallon.

Cotton wick, at per lb.

Rations for destitute persons, consisting of Bread 1½ lb, Meat (free from bone), ½ pound, at per ration.

PROVISIONS FOR PROVINCIAL HOSPITAL AND LUNATIC ASYLUM.

The articles to be delivered at the Hospital and Lunatic Asylum, at the expense of the Contractor, and to be subject to the approval of the Provincial Surgeon as to quality.
