PROCLAMATION.
By JOHN WILLIAMSON, Esquire,
Superintendent of the Province
of Auckland, in the Colony of
New Zealand.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General
Assembly of New Zealand intituled the
"Taranaki Settlers Relief Act 1860," it is
amongst other things enacted that every ap-
plication for relief by the said Act authorised
to be made, should be accompanied by a decla-
ration, to be made as by the said Act appointed,
and that after the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand should have made such enquiries
as to him should seem fit for ascertaining the
truth of such Declaration, it should be lawful
for the said Governor to issue to such applicant
an Order entitling such applicant to select from
the Waste Lands of the Crown within the
Province specified in such Declaration Land of
the value of Forty Pounds to be estimated in
the manner and subject to the conditions in the
said Act mentioned. AND by the said Act it
is further provided that no such Order should
be issued with respect to any Province until
the Superintendent thereof should have declared
by Proclamation in the Government Gazette
of the said Province that the said Act should
be in force in such Province. NOW THEREFORE
I, the Superintendent of the said Province of
Auckland, do hereby proclaim and declare that
the said "Taranaki Settlers Relief Act" is
and from the date hereof, and from the publi-
cation hereof in the Auckland Provincial
Government Gazette shall be in force in the
Province of Auckland aforesaid.

in the said Province, this six-
teenth day of December, one
thousand eight hundred and
sixty-one.

N O T I C E.
Superintendent's Office,
Auckland, 20th December, 1861.
WHEREAS certain persons have made
excavations in, and removed quantities
of Sand from, the Government Reserve, near
Hauraki Point, Remuera; and whereas
injury has been done thereby, this is to
give Notice that, such unauthorized excava-
tion and removal of Sand from the said
Reserve is hereby prohibited.
Any person acting in future contrary to
the foregoing Regulation will be proceeded
against according to law.
