NOTICE TO MARINERS.

Auckland, 30th April, 1861.

NOTICE is hereby given (to Coasters in particular) that an Iron Perch Beacon, surmounted with a circular cage, has been erected on the Northern extreme of the Reef off the Eastern end of Brown’s (or Koreho) Island.

The Reef extends from the East end of the Black Sandy Bay two cables length to the Beacon, and from thence S.E. about three cables in broken patches. To the Westward of the Beacon the ground is clear, with one to one and a half fathoms at low water.

The Beacon stands in four feet water at lowest Spring Tides, with the following marks and compass bearings :—

East End Brown’s Island, on with East Tamaki Head, S.S.E.

West Ditto on with Mount Eden S.W. half W.; South end of Taylor’s Island E. by N. half N.

Masters of Vessels, for their own safety and that of the Beacon, are requested to give it a wide berth, and not to pass in shore of it.

IN accordance with the 30th Clause of the Crown Lands Ordinance (No. 1, Sess. 10), I publish the following apportionment made by the Wardens of the Hundred of Howick.

THE Wardens of the Howick Hundred have made the following apportionment of Cattle for the present year.

Two head of small Cattle allowed in lieu of one head of great Cattle.

All Cattle found over this apportionment on the run at Howick will be impounded as unlicensed.

N.B.—The word “Great Cattle” shall include all Cows, Heifers and Steers over one year old. One Horse (not Entire) or Mare over one year old to count on the run the same as two Cows.
