CITY OF AUCKLAND DEBENTURES]

Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 17th November, 1859.

NOTICE is hereby given that Tenders will be received at this Office, or at the Office of the Oriental Bank Corporation, Sydney, until noon of Thursday, the 5th January next, from persons desirous of advancing the whole or any portion of the sum of Fifteen Thousand Pounds, on the security of Debentures to be issued under the provisions in that behalf contained in an Act of the Legislature of the Province of Auckland, intituled—

"The City of Auckland Debentures Act, 1859."

If a Tender be accepted, Debentures, secured as provided by the said Act, will be issued for the sum advanced, on payment of the amount, in cash, into the Public Treasury of the Province.

Each Debenture will be payable to bearer, and will be issued for the sum of One hundred pounds.

The principal will not be payable until the 1st day of January, 1875, and will bear interest in the meantime at a rate not exceeding 7 per centum per annum, payable half-yearly on presentation of the Debentures at the Provincial Treasury at Auckland, or as provided by the said Act, on or after the 1st day of January and the 1st day of July in every year.

Parties tendering are requested to state—

  1. The amount they are prepared to advance, and the sum which they offer for each £100 of such Debentures, and the rate of interest required for each £100.
  2. Whether or not the Tender is conditional upon the acceptance of the full amount, or of any specified portions of the sum offered.

Tenders to be sealed and endorsed "Tender for Debentures."

IN THE TWENTY-THIRD YEAR OF [THE REIGN OF HER MAJESTY QUEEN VICTORIA

SESSION XI. No. 1.

AN ACT to authorize the raising of Money by the Sale of Debentures for constructing certain Works within the City of Auckland

WHEREAS by Deed of Grant dated the sixteenth day of March one thousand eight hundred and fifty-eight the allotments or parcels of land mentioned and described in the Schedule A to this Act annexed were granted by His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand under the powers contained in an Act passed by the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled "The Public Reserves Act 1854" upon trust for the improvement and benefit of the City of Auckland. AND WHEREAS it is expedient to enable the Superintendent of the Province of Auckland to borrow money upon the said allotments of land in the manner hereinafter mentioned.

BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the Superintendent of the Province of Auckland with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council thereof
