PROCLAMATION.

By JOHN WILLIAMSON, Esquire,
Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

WHEREAS, by the “Thistle Act, 1858,” it was amongst other things enacted that it should be lawful for the Superintendent of the Province of Auckland from time to time by Proclamation in the Provincial Government Gazette, to declare that the said Act should come into operation within any District, and thereby to proclaim the limits of the District.

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the powers and authority in me vested, I, the said Superintendent, do hereby proclaim and declare that the said “Thistle Act, 1858,” shall, on and after the first day of December next, come into operation within the Drury and Waiuku District, and the limits of the said District shall be—on the North by the waters of the Manukau, and the division line known as Hewling’s line, between the parishes of Wairoa and Papakura, on the one side, and Hunua and Opaheki on the other; on the East the Wairoa, Mangawheau and Mangatawhiri Rivers; on the South, the Waikato River to its mouth, and on the West, the sea.

Given under my hand, at Auckland, in the said Province, the 29th day of November, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-eight.

THISTLES.

Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, November 29th, 1858.

TENDERS will be received at this office until noon of Monday, the 20th December next, from persons willing to contract for eradicating and destroying all noxious Thistles growing upon any Waste Lands of the Crown, lands belonging to the Aboriginal Natives, and on any Public Road or Reserve within one or more of the several Sub-districts hereinafter described, for the term of one year, ending 31st December, 1859 :

No. 1, North Shore.

Bounded on the N.E. by the Sea; on the N.W. by the Wairau stream, by the middle line of a road running between lots 104 and 105 of the Parish of Takapuna, in a South Westerly direction to the Lucas’ Creek road; on the W. by the middle of the Lucas’ Creek road, by the middle of Callan’s Bay road to the Harbour; on the South by the Harbour of Waitemata.


No. 2, Mount Albert.

On the N. by the Waitemata Harbour; on the E. by the middle of the Epsom road from Mechanics’ Bay, Southward to Onehunga to the beach at Commercial Hotel (not to include the Government Domain); on the S. by the Manakau Harbour; on the W. by the Wahu Portage and Wahu Creek.
