THISTLE ACT.

NOTICE.

Superintendent's Office, Auckland,
April 25th, 1857.

HEREBY notify, for general information, that I have appointed Mr. FRANCIS DYER RICH, to enter upon any land situated within the Auckland District, for the purpose of ascertaining the existence of any noxious thistles therein, and eradicating or destroying the same.

NOTICE.

HEREBY notify for general information that in accordance with the provisions of an Act for granting a Representative Constitution to the Colony of New Zealand, a writ having been issued for the election of a member of the Provincial Council for the undermentioned electoral District, to serve in the place of JOSEPH GREENWOOD, Esquire, resigned, the Returning Officer of the said district has returned the said writ with a certificate to the effect that the undermentioned gentleman has been duly elected a member of the Provincial Council for the said district.

PROCLAMATION.

By JOHN WILLIAMSON, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

WHEREAS by the “Thistle Act, 1857,” it was amongst other things enacted, that it should be lawful for the Superintendent of the Province of Auckland from time to time, by proclamation in the Provincial Government Gazette, to declare that the said Act should come into operation within any district, and thereby to proclaim the limits of the said district;

Now therefore in pursuance of the powers and authority in me vested, I, the said Superintendent, Do hereby proclaim and declare that the said “Thistle Act, 1857,” shall, on and after the first day of May next, come into operation within the Auckland District; and that the limits of the said District shall be—On the North, the harbour of Waitemata and the sea; on the East, the Wairoa River; on the South, the division line known as Hewling’s line, extending from the Wairoa River to the Papakura Creek, and the waters of the Manukau; on the West, the Eastern boundary of the Wahu Portage, and the Wahu Creek.

Given under my hand, at Auckland, in the said Province, the 25th day of April, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-seven.
