PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

By John Williamson, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland.

WHEREAS by a Public Notification published in the Auckland Provincial Government Gazette of the 17th May last, under the hand of His Honor John Logan Campbell, Esquire, then Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, it was notified and declared that the Town of Auckland in the said Province should for the purposes therein set forth from the fifth day of May then inst., come under the operation of the Provisions of the Impounding Act 1856, within the limits and in the manner in the said notification mentioned.

And whereas by the said Impounding Act 1856, power is given to alter and vary for the purposes of the said Act, the limits of any Town or Village which may have been brought under the operation of the said Act; Now THEREFORE, I do declare that I hereby alter and vary the limits set forth in the said notification, and that from and after the 22nd day of November instant the limits within which it shall not be lawful for any person to suffer any cattle belonging to him or under his charge to stray or go about or to be tethered or depastured within the said Town of Auckland shall be the undermentioned highways or public places:

  • Emily Place and Princes-street, from British Mart Barrack Gate to Government House Gate;
  • Waterloo Quadrant, from Princes-street to its junction with Symonds-street;
  • Symonds-street, from Waterloo Quadrant to its junction with Karangahapa road;
  • Wakefield-street, from Symonds-street, to its junction with Queen-street;
  • Queen-street, from Wakefield-street, to its junction with Custom House-street;
  • Shortland-street, from Queen-street, to its junction with Emily Place;
  • West Queen-street, from Queen-street, to its junction with Hobson-street;
  • Wyndham-street, from Queen-street, to its junction with Hobson-street;
  • Victoria-street, from Queen-street, to its junction with Hobson-street;
  • Hobson-street and Pitt-street, to the junction of Pitt-street, with the Karangahapa road;

and not the limits set forth in the said notification.

Given under my hand at Auckland, this 21st day of November, One thousand eight hundred and fifty-six.

has rendered his resignation of the offices of Chief Commissioner of the Waste Lands Board, and Commissioner of Waste Lands, and that the same has been accepted.
