Province of Auckland,
to Wit.
WHEREAS a Writ under the hand of John Williamson, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, bearing date the sixteenth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-six; hath been directed to me, Thomas Beckham, Esquire, Principal Returning Officer for the Province of Auckland, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by and from amongst the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, one person to serve as a Member for the Provincial Council for the Suburbs of Auckland, in the place of William Turner, Esquire, resigned. Now therefore, I, the said Thomas Beckham, Esquire, Principal Returning Officer for the Province of Auckland, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited Writ, give notice that a Public Meeting of the Electors of the Suburbs of Auckland will be holden at the Supreme Court House, Queen-street, Auckland, on Tuesday, the second day of December next, at noon, for the purpose of Nominating one Person, to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council for the Suburbs of Auckland. And in the event of a Poll being demanded for the Candidates, or either of them, such Polling shall take place on the following day, the third of December next, at such Supreme Court House, aforesaid, the voting to commence at any time after nine o’clock of the said day, and to close at four o’clock of the afternoon of the same day.

WHEREAS a Writ under the hand of John Williamson, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland bearing date the fifteenth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-six, hath been directed to me, Theodore Minet Haultain, Esquire, Returning Officer for the Pensioner Settlements, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by and from amongst the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, one person to serve as a member of the Provincial Council for the Province of Auckland, for the Electoral District called and known by the name of the Pensioner Settlements, in place of John Williamson, Esquire, who has duly resigned. Now, therefore, I, the said Theodore Minet Haultain, Esquire, Returning Officer for the Pensioner Settlements, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited Writ, give notice that a public meeting of the Electors of the Pensioner Settlements will be holden at the Court-House, On hunga, on Tuesday, the second day of December next, at noon, for the purpose of nominating one person to serve as a member of the Provincial Council for the Pensioner Settlements aforesaid. And in the event of a Poll being demanded by or on behalf of the candidates, or any of them, such polling shall take place on Wednesday, the third day of December next, at such Court-House aforesaid, the voting to commence at any time after nine o’clock of the forenoon of the said day, and to close at four o’clock in the afternoon of the same day.
