I have the honor, by the direction of his Excellency the Officer Administering the Government, to acknowledge the receipt of your Honor’s letter of the 24th inst., in reply to mine of the 20th instant, on the subject of the appointment of the staff required for the service of the Waste Lands Board and of the defrayal of certain expenses connected therewith. I am further directed to inform your Honor that his Excellency did not refuse, but was prepared to carry out the arrangement proposed, unless your Honor concurred in the new course suggested by the new features the case had assumed in consequence of the contemplated meeting of the Provincial Council.

Sir,

I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of your letter No. 183, of the 28th instant, having reference to the payment from the Land Fund of the expenses connected with the Waste Land Board, and informing me that his Excellency did not refuse, but was prepared to carry out the arrangement proposed unless I concurred in the new course suggested by the new features the case had assumed.

In reply to your Honor’s letter of the 1st instant (No. 1131) having further reference to the payment of expenses connected with the Waste Land Board of this Province, I am directed by his Excellency the Officer Administering the Government to repeat, as will be seen from the previous correspondence on the subject, that the General Government consented to undertake the payment, until the meeting of the Provincial Council took place, of those officers that are necessary for carrying on the operations of the Waste Lands Board, with the exception of the Commissioners, and I have accordingly to inform your Honor that his Excellency is prepared to pay those officers until the Provincial Council shall have had an opportunity of making provision for them, and that after that time it will be left altogether to the Provincial Council to make that provision.

His Excellency is also prepared to adopt

In reply to your Honor’s letter of the 1st instant (No. 1131) having further reference to the payment of expenses connected with the Waste Land Board of this Province, I am directed by his Excellency the Officer Administering the Government to state that the General Government had agreed to pay the necessary expenses until the meeting of the Provincial Council, and I am to add that the General Government is prepared to adopt the enclosed schedule of expenditure.
