Published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 26th day of February, 1874, His Excellency the Governor did, under his hand and the public seal of the Colony, delegate unto me, James Alexander Bonar, Superintendent of the Province of Westland, all the powers vested in the Governor under or by virtue of The Gold Fields Act, 1866, except the powers conferred by Sections twenty-two, forty, forty-eight, sixty, ninety-six, and one hundred and seven of the said Act, to have, hold, and exercise the said powers hereby delegated to me, the said James Alexander Bonar, within the Province of Westland:
Now therefore, I, James Alexander Bonar, Superintendent of the Province of Westland, in exercise and pursuance of all the powers vested in and delegated to me in this behalf do hereby grant unto T. Caldwell and Co. a special claim of five acres, situated at Clark’s Gully, Ho Ho Lead, subject to the following conditions:

That six men be constantly employed for the first six months; at the expiration of that term ten men, to be increased to fifteen at any time the Warden should be of opinion that the number can be profitably employed on the ground. The Warden shall have the power, by writing under his hand, to allow a less number of men to be employed on the claim on sufficient reason being shown for such concession.

The said T. Caldwell and Co. shall pay a yearly rent of One Pound per acre.

The said T. Caldwell and Co. shall have no right to sell or otherwise dispose of the said claim. This condition not to affect the right to sell or dispose of shares.

The said T. Caldwell and Co. to comply with the directions of the Warden in working the claim.

Clauses 25 and 30 of The Gold Mining Lease Regulations, 1871, to be complied with.
Given under my hand, at Hokitika, this 13th day of July, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five.

PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS, by the twelfth Section of The Gold Fields Act, 1866, it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor to grant special claims of greater area than may be determined by the Regulations to be made under the eleventh Section of the said Act, for the purpose of carrying on mining operations under circumstances of extraordinary difficulty, or involving the expenditure of considerable sums of money, or for the encouragement of enterprise in prospecting new ground, or as a reward for the discovery of new gold workings, and also to prescribe the terms and conditions upon which any such special claim may be held, occupied, worked and forfeited;
And whereas, by the one hundred and ninth Section of the said Act, it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council under his hand and the public seal of the Colony, from time to time, to delegate to such person as the Governor may think fit all or any of the powers vested in the Governor by the said Act, except the powers conferred by Sections twenty-two, forty, forty-eight, sixty, ninety-six, and one hundred and seven thereof, subject or not to any limitations or restrictions as he may think fit:
And whereas, by an order in Council, dated the second day of February, 1874, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 26th day of February, 1874, His Excellency the Governor did, under his hand and the public seal of the Colony, delegate unto me, James Alexander Bonar, Superintendent of the Province of Westland, all the powers vested in the Governor under or by virtue of The Gold Fields Act, 1866, except the powers conferred by Sections twenty-two, forty, forty-eight, sixty, ninety-six, and one hundred and seven of the said Act, to have, hold, and exercise the said powers hereby delegated to me, the said James Alexander Bonar, within the Province of Westland:

M’Kinnon and Co. a special claim of six acres, situated at commencement of Ho Ho Lead, subject to the following conditions:
- That six men be constantly employed on the claim for the first six months; at the expiration of that time twelve men to be employed.
