PROVINCE OF WESTLAND GAZETTE.

IN pursuance of the powers and provisions contained in or conferred by Part Thirteen of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867," the Council of the Borough of Greymouth ordains as follows--that is to say :-

  1. That the whole of the provisions of or contained in the First, Second, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Eighth, Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Parts of the Thirteenth Schedule of the said "Municipal Corporations Act, 1867," and the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Provisions of the Seventh Part of the said Thirteenth Schedule of the said Act are hereby adopted in and for the said Borough.

  2. The following Bye-Laws heretofore existing are hereby repealed--that is to say :-

So much of Bye-Law No. 5 heretofore in force in the said Borough, and passed by the said Council on the tenth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three, as adopts the First, Second, Fourth, Sixth, Eighth, Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Parts of the said Schedule to the said Act, and such of the provisions numbered 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8, of the Fifth Part, and such provisions as are numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8, of the Seventh Part of the said Schedule to the said Act.

Passed by the said Council, this seventeenth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.

Description of Town of Mapourika Reserve.

SPECIAL SETTLEMENT BLOCK NO. III.

Okarito District.

NE hundred and fifty acres, more or less, situate on the north-eastern shore of Lake Mapourika, and bounded as follows :--

On the south-eastward by a line bearing north-easterly 47ยฐ50' (magnetic), and commencing at Station peg T 2 for thirty-one chains fifty links; on the North-eastward by a line running North-westerly at a right angle to the last-mentioned boundary for sixty-four chains fifty links to the Eastern bank of the Okarito River; on the Westward by the said River ; and on the South-westward by Lake Mapourika.

His Honor the Superintendent directs the following Extracts from "The Westland Waste Lands Act, 1870," and "The Westland Waste Lands Act Amendment Act, 1873," with respect to the conditions under which land can be taken up in Special Settlements in the Province of Westland, to be published for general information.

"WESTLAND WASTE LANDS ACT, 1870."

  1. Whereas the formation of special settlements within the County of Westland in the unoccupied parts thereof for colonization would tend to advance the development and prosperity of the said County it is expedient that the County Council should be empowered to take the necessary steps for the formation of such settlements.

  2. It shall be lawful for the Governor in Council upon a resolution duly passed by an absolute majority of the County Council from time to time to declare by Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette that certain blocks of land within the County south of the Mikonui River as prescribed in such Proclamation are set apart and reserved to establish settlements for colonization upon the terms following--No such block shall exceed fifty thousand acres and such lands shall be granted sold or disposed of upon the conditions and in accordance with the provisions following that is to say--

(a.) The Chairman of the County Council may cause town suburbs
