And whereas by an Order in Council,
dated the eighteenth day of December, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-two,
and published in the New Zealand Gazette,
No. 1, of the 3rd of January, 1874, His
Excellency the Governor, with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the
Colony of New Zealand, did proclaim that
the blocks of land described in the Schedule
to the said Order in Council were set apart
and reserved to establish settlements for
colonisation upon the terms in the said
seventy-eighth Section mentioned.
And whereas by sub-section A. of the
said seventy-eighth Section mentioned, it is
provided that the Chairman of the County
Council may cause town, suburban, and
rural allotments, respectively, to be laid out
in each of the said settlements so constituted
and set apart as above:
And whereas by "The Province of Westland Act, 1873," it is, among other things,
enacted that all powers at the time of the
first election of a Superintendent of the said
Province vested in the Chairman of the
County Council of the County of Westland,
either solely or with the advice or on
the recommendation of the County Council
of the said County, except such powers as
are contained in the parts of the Acts repealed by the said "Province of Westland
Act, 1873," shall, within the Province of
Westland, so far as applicable to the circumstances of the said Province, be vested in
the Superintendent of the said Province:
Now therefore, I, James Alexander Bonar,
Superintendent of the Province of Westland, do hereby proclaim and declare that
the land described in the Schedule hereto,
and situated in Special Settlement Block I.,
is set apart and reserved as a site for a
town within the meaning of the said seventy-eighth Section mentioned.
Given under my hand, at Hokitika,
this 10th day of July, 1874.

TOWN OF OKURA.
All that piece or parcel of land containing
three hundred and twenty (320) acres, more
or less, situate on, and having frontage to,
the north bank of the Okura River bounded
as follows:βOn the westward by the ocean
beach, a distance of eighty chains; on the
northward by a line at right angles to the
general direction of the ocean beach, a distance of eighty chains to the Okura River;
and on the southward by the north bank of
the said river.

Renewing Order in Council bringing Sections 20 to 45 of the Public Health Act into force in the Province of Westland.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington,
this twenty-fourth day of June, 1874.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the nineteenth section
of "The Public Health Act, 1872,"
it is enacted that the Governor in Council
may make orders from time to time directing
that the provisions thereafter in that
part of the said Act contained, or any of
them, be put in force in New Zealand, or in
such parts thereof, or in such places therein,
as in such orders respectively may be expressed, and may in like manner revoke or
renew any such order; and, subject to
revocation or renewal as aforesaid, every
such order shall be in force for six calendar
months from the publication of such order,
or for such shorter period as in such order
shall be expressed, and no longer; and
every such order shall be published in the
General Government Gazette, and such
publication shall be conclusive evidence of
such order to all intents and purposes; and
none of the said provisions shall be in force
in any part of New Zealand until an order
directing the same to be put in force shall
have been made and published as aforesaid:
And whereas by an order in Council bearing
date the seventeenth day of September last,
and published in the New Zealand Gazette
of the eighteenth day of September last,
His Excellency the Governor did thereby
in exercise and pursuance of all power and
authority in that behalf in him vested,
