  1. Protection allowed, for one year from the date of this Gazette, on both sides of the river for half a mile each way from the point at which the boat usually starts.

Schedule of Charges.

For every horse with rider s. d.

All Government officers on duty, and persons carrying Her Majesty’s mails under contract, free.

WAITANGI AND WATAROHA.

Robert Baker.

  1. Ferry to be worked by boat.
  2. The amount of subsidy to be £50 per annum.
  3. The occupation allowed of twenty-five acres of land on north bank of river.
  4. Protection allowed, for one year from the date of this Gazette, from usual starting point of boat on each side of the river for half a mile each way.

All Government officers on duty, and persons carrying Her Majesty’s mails under contract, free.

OKARITO.

George Thomson.

  1. The ferry to be worked by punt and boat.

  2. Protection allowed, for one year from the date of this Gazette, on the north side of the lagoon, half a mile each way from the point at which the punt or boat usually starts.

  3. No owner of any private boat, employing the same for his own use, and not for hire, shall be subject to toll.

  4. No licensed boat shall be permitted to take up passengers on the north side of the lagoon.

  5. No charge to be made for the use of punts when required for discharge of vessels unable to reach the landing stage; but all persons having the use of the punts at such times shall be responsible for the due care and return of the punts to the usual mooring place, and while so used shall be worked at their own expense.
