Governor did, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, delegate to me Henry Hermann Lahman, Chairman of the County Council of Westland within the County of Westland, all the powers, which before the passing of "The County of Westland Act, 1868," were by law vested in the Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury and exercisable within the district comprised in the said County of Westland:

Now therefore, I, Henry Hermann Lahman, Chairman of the County Council of Westland, in exercise and pursuance of the powers delegated to me in this behalf, do hereby notify that I have received a Petition signed by not less than one-fourth of the number of persons whose names appear on the burgess roll of the Borough of Greymouth, praying that the said Borough may be redivided into three wards, and I hereby proclaim that I do re-divide the said Borough into three wards, whose respective boundaries are set forth in Schedule A., and I do hereby allot to each such ward the Councillors whose names are set opposite the name of each ward respectively.

Given under my hand at Hokitika, this nineteenth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.

SCHEDULE A.

EAST WARD: bounded on the Northward by the Grey River; on the Eastward by the east boundary of Native Reserve, No. 31, and by Town Belt east; on the Southward by Town Belt south; and on the Westward by Road and Railway Reserve, Shakespeare-street, and Tainui-street.

MIDDLE WARD: bounded on the Northward by the Grey River; on the Eastward by the western boundary of East Ward; and on the Westward by Road and Railway Reserve, Chapel-street, Herbert-street, and Boundary-street.

WEST WARD: bounded on the Northward by the Grey River; on the Eastward by the western boundary of Middle Ward, and by part of western boundary of East Ward; on the Southward by South Town Belt; and on the Westward by the Sea Coast.
